Drum filter for sale, my own built unit.

    Hi,

selling my drum filter that i made, dont expect huge amounts for it , so please forward you're offers via PM or genuine questions from those looking to purchase it from me.

well here is the story .

after 15 months of faultless running,, the 12mm drive shaft broke off due to welding corrosion that happens with stainless steel 304L (welding heat caused the steel to become brittle and crack prone especially over time when exposed to moisture and varying temps and torque stresses .

im a skilled apprentice trained tig welder so know what im talking about here.

to restore stainless steel to its properties when made its needed to be heat treated after welding, sadly i dont have the means to do this, i made an error in the internal drum dimensions which increased the load on the shaft due to the drum internal dia being a couple of MM too small which created alot of friction on the drum and the seal which prevents debris getting through.

removing this friction will prevent the shaft breaking again, it was very tight to turn the drum by hand, i did have concerns but the hassle of getting it all out now that it was all plumbed in and working was worth the risk.

I will be fully repairing the drum prior to sale for the new owner and will provide the new owner help and advice should you wise so..

this drum was featured on here during its build,, and video's uploading showing it working.

it will be supplied with Din rail timer switch (automatic) high pressure cleaning pump for the jets, 230v - 24v power supply for the motor / motor speed controller. so ready to plumb in.

i had this running on my 3000 gallon pond, cleaning only once every 1 1/2 hours for around 10 secs each time. you can adjust this time between cleans via the timer.
its not noisy due to having a polycarbonate lid

this is over kill for my pond, ideally suited to very large ponds but will work on any pond
never needed any cleaning work, and never had to clean any other filters out as this filtered to 50 micron its removed tiny particles creating beautiful clear water
unit is water tight , ZERO leaks.

    spec of the drum
    650mm dia internal drum
    50 micron mesh
Parvalux 24v geared high torque motor.
industrial high grade stainless steel 304L Drive chain and heavy weight cogs that will never fail...
all shafts supported via hybrid food grade ceramic bearing that will last a lifetime..
spray jets are top quality ones, with internal filters

2 x 110mm inlets fitted , room for 6 x 110mm inlets for a max flow of 120,000 litres per hour flow approx

1x 110mm outlet on the rear 1 x 50mm outlet on rear . room for more.

    sizes are approx
    1300mm
    x 750mm

collection from derby de21 , you will need a van , i will help with loading, its very heavy around 80kg two can easy move this.

i will be building a smaller unit for my pond at a later date, but for now im using a basic filtreco sieve, not ideal , but i need a make a smaller drum as you can see in the photos (sort of) that i lack space for bio filtration and this drum is way over kill and takes up 70% of the space i have.

    cash on pick up please.
    thanks

just to be 100% clear if in doubt.
drum will be fully repaired with modifications that will prevent it happening again, and shown working ,

one of this size you will be looking at £3,000 + easy .

im not looking for anywhere near that

    yours for next to nothing.

offers over £250 will be considered.

draper pressure pump alone was over £120 that was purchased new around 6 months back ..

I might be interested. What's the height it needs to be situated to get the water level? I my filter pit might not be deep enough and I can't really make it any deeper.

Hi, that depends, if you dont require high flow rate, or want shorter intervals between cleaning . ie 100,000 litres per hour then it can sit much higher against the water level ,

min depth below water level i'd say 30cm which would still pull in upto 35,000 litres per hour depending on inlets/outlets .
40cm below water level, you can then fit more inlets /outlets and increase flow rates through it

i had it sat approx 55cm below water level as i wanted the benefit of upto 1 1/2 hours between cleaning cycles despite over stocked and feed my koi abit too much vs drums on the market that need cleaning every 20 mins or much much less,

    thanks

I'll be wanting as much flow as possible, I'd want it to feed 2 bakki showers at 30,000Lph each, a nexus 300 (to be replaced at some point with a large moving bed) and maybe even a 24 inch bead before the ASHP. I don't care how often it cleans, as many times as it needs to is fine.

I need to measure filter pit floor to water level then to see if it's possible.

if thats you're pond, which looks huge. I would have it sitting at its lowest point approx 55cm depth with the needs of you're filtration if you can get it that low from my point of view.
but will be fine if you dont mind it cleaning more frequently , im just very conscious about my water/electricity usage and the noise from drums in general during cleaning.
thats why i went massively over kill when designing this drum, but as my fish have grown and numbers increased i need bio filtration space and can cope with a drum half this size which i plan on making soon .

min depth for you , i'd say 45cm below surface .

    hope that helps.

£300 buy it now, i'm willing to do the weld repair work, buyer to enlarge the internal dia of the drum and re-paint with g4 or similar

at most it will cost the buyer £40 for paint and sanding discs,,,

only 1 - 3mm needs shaving off so the drum turns freely when the seal is pushed against it,
