I'm using exactly the same pump and I like the screen with the wattage on it as it helps to let you know what is going on once you get to know the pump a bit more. The error codes are very helpful too although the only one I occasionally get (famous last words) is E 3 which is pump idling which only tends to happen when cleaning the Eazy Pod. I'm on a pump fed system so put it down to the water running back down into the pump which causes excess head pressure as the pump is trying to spin up. But as I mentioned before it's only a very occasional thing and I have found that if I turn the pump back on at the end of each boiling session and then open the slide valve for the Eazy Pod it doesn't happen. So I just put that down to user error lol

Ah - that's interesting. So the new S version of this pump displays error codes? I've had two 10k Varios since 2017 so these are the previous versions. They're both dry mounted and haven't missed a beat in 3 years. So tiny too, hard to believe they work so well. But I was wondering why they've increased quite so much in price with the new version. I paid £130 each for mine. They are now a smidgen under £200. Do they have any other features over and above the original?

No mine's the pre S version as I've had it about 3 or 4 years now I think.

I'll see if I can get a photo of the controller later on OK

Sorry my misunderstanding. I've never seen error codes on mine so clearly I've forgotten what the manual said Aqua forte 10,000 variable pump. Wonder why the huge price increase then?!!

I nearly always turn mine on and off during the cleaning cycles using the pause button as if I turn it off via the switch box as you'd expect it shows a voltage fault just before it stops. That's user error though.

Hi the price increase from what i can see is for the new "S" Version, the original pumps are still around £140 / £150...... basically new software and a shutdown option to avoid burnouts due to no water going by the blurb, i could be wrong though but i believe there is the older and the newer model currently in circulation hence the price difference, i have the 10k and 20k which i assume are the older versions as the control unit does not say "DM vario S Sine wave controller" which going by the Cotswold Koi website the newer ones do but needs 100% confirmation.,

My old version shuts down when no water present. Like my other 3500 single speed DM Aqua Forte pump and that's between 5 and 10 years old. The AF stuff is good stuff for the money I think.

The newer S type AF pumps are a bit too new at the moment so for my liking not been out long enough to know what they are really like long term compared to the tried and test standard DM Various.

The S is related to it having a sin wave motor or controller which I think has something to do with it being a 3 phase pump. That's not the same 415 volt 3 phase that industrial motors have BTW I think it's 12, 24 or 36 volt 3 phase?

Ah that would make more sense as i was under the impression mine shut down as well and had the ceramic shaft ect as per the blurb but it reads as if this is new technology going by the aquaforte blurb, i suppose the new controller is new technology like you say....apologies Rapleyr for us hijacking your sales thread....

I really would like one of these, but my pump is suction fed outside of the pond from a bottom drain. Currently using a swimming pool pump with a built in leaf catcher to stop snail shells, pebbles and leaves, etc getting into the pump,I don't seem to be able to find anything similar to mount in front of pumps like these in the UK. Any ideas?

I'm guessing you have pipe work that is going up and over the side of the pond or does it stay below the surface of the pond?

The more information you can give the easier it will be to help OK

No all inside, pond is raised about 2í above and 3í below. 2Ē pipe from the bottom drain to hole in the pond wall at ground level, then 10degree slopes pipe down to my pump gate valve then inlet on the leaf catcher on my pump. All works absolutely perfectly, pump is similar to this, External Pond Pump - Swimming Pool/Water Garden/Koi Pond Pump - 5000-10000 L/H (10000 L/H - HZS370) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071CV8C..._aLGBFbJSFV49V. The clear trap/priming tank traps all the large crap that would go through the pump otherwise and either get churned up, block the impeller or mess up my bead filter.
In the US these are easy to get aftermarket and screw onto the front of the pump, but it has to be sealed and work under pressure.
