Outburst of issues - help with microscope findings

    Hi all,

New to posting on the forum but have been reading alot of posts over the past 12-18 months. Had my pond setup for 18 months or so now with no issues. 1650gallon pond running a nexus 220 filter. Current stock is 8 koi, ranging from 20cm to 48cm. i have 3no koi showing illness. 2no are showing raised scales, no bloating, still eating but like to sit in corner of ponds near surface facing up towards the surface. the other is showing redness on one side, flashing and clamps fins/sitting on the bottom but was still eating also. Tested pond as i do on a regular basis and my nitrite has risen slightly. I've done a couple of 25% water changes and now doing 10% water changes every 2-3 days and testing everyday.

I have taken scrapes but being my firs time i'm a little stuck on what is what. I couldn't find anything moving or wriggling. The first 2 images (kohaku1) are from a kohaku that has the raised scales and the last 3 images (kohaku2) are of another kohaku with the redness and flashing symptoms. Can anyone help me with this? I don't know anyone local who can help me.

    TIA.

duncan griffiths is best to comment on slides (Manky Sanke).Looks like formalin and Malachite green .Switch off uv and follow Duncans advice on mix and frequency ,Usually 2+ weeks no food. Now in the season for bacteria attacks as fish immune systems are low until water temps get above 15 degrees.Good luck

Those images don't show any parasites. Just skin and oxygen bubbles etc.
You are right to look for movement.
Looking at those images, is still helpful because You'll find white spot and flukes at that resolution but you'll struggle with finding costia. What resolution will your microscope do?

Also Duncan and Mankey Sanke (Sid) are not the same chaps.

For a head start. I would PP the pond and I would be leaning towards trichodina or costia. Something small and hard to spot.

3070 Gallons. 4" Bottom Drain and Skimmer. Draco Solum 16 Drum. Anoxic Filtration. Air lift returns.
