Possible dropsy.?
Hi guys, I have a koi which is 3 times the size it should be, with raised scales across its whole body and bulging eyes. It was first noticed last September and over the winter has not changed only got worse, I have spoken to a Vet and read up on what I can, all answers are pointing to dropsy. But over this time scale with him still feeding and swimming around ok, the fish should NOT be here.!
Is there anything else that could be causing this, any advice would be helpful..

Over many years of fish keeping, I've only successfully treated dropsy on one occasion and that was I believe, because I caught it very early.
When it gets to the stage that you're describing, I think it's a lost cause. I would go with euthanizing the poor old thing.7500 litres

Dropsy is the symptoms of what can be all sorts of causes. Heat and salt probably being the only thing that will help those symptoms
The cause will be unknown so its a dice roll as to whether the fish can beat it or not. At least heat and salt gives it the best chance.3070 Gallons. 4" Bottom Drain and Skimmer. Draco Solum 16 Drum. Anoxic Filtration. Air lift returns.
