*ADMIN, PLEASE READ* National Exotics Animal Rescue Services request.

    Hi guys,

I'm a volunteer with National Exotics Animal Rescue Services and have been alerted to a situation involving Koi fish within the London area.
Can admin please reach out to me ASAP to discuss a possible collaboration regarding rescue.

I cannot share details in a public setting at this time.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Jen

Is it not possible to outline the basic level of help that is required, and possibly someone on here local to that part of London might be able to assist?

i.e is any specific equipment required?

    What would the task involve?

    Deadlines?

Is a storage location set up for the Koi or is a home required? (you'll struggle with the latter if that is required, especially at this time of year which is a time when most people do not want to risk adding new Koi to an established pond).

Basically what's going on is that National Exotics & Moonstone Rescue have been alerted to a hoarding situation where a gentleman is too poorly to look after his Koi fish, obviously it's through no fault of his own, so we encourage kindness and empathy with this gentleman.
It's estimated there to be around 100 fish in the pond, so it's now a huge effort to try and get these fish to safe places.

Ideally we need people with experience and the right transport equipment who are willing to take some fish for us and give them the new homes they need and deserve.

If anyone is willing to help, it would be a huge weight off our chests as rescues go - mainly because we're not equipped to take in a large number of fish such as these.

Wow - 100 fish is a lot and there's zero chance any one person on here would be able to manage that many. Typically a Koi hobbyist will have 8-15 koi in a pond of any given size, and possibly room for 1 or 2 more.

An ideal scenario would be someone who has a private lake, but there's not many on here who have or know people with lakes.

Its a tough situation - Gumtree is a good outlet to move Koi on, but you can never be sure if you're sending them to their deaths through that avenue, plus the aggro of dealing with many timewasters.

Hopefully people will see your last post and offer help if they are able to, but it sounds like a mammoth task to rehome every single one.

There is a Youtuber who I know has done Koi rescues from abandoned ponds, but he's based up North and even he likely doesn't have the spare capacity for another 100 fish, but here's a link to his channel as it doesn't hurt to track him down and ask. He is quite well known on the Koi scene so finding contact details shouldn't be difficult:

We're hoping for a collaborative effort, as obviously we wouldn't expect just one person to take a large number.
Even if we're able to move 1 or 2, it's still fish that are off to a better life and situation.

If anyone is able/willing to assist, I can private message the number of Matt with Moonstone Rescue who is overseeing the case.

Dealing with 60 people you can 100percent day you'll be able to move on 1 fish 50 times and 1 fish won't even be looked at

Where abouts in London are we talking?

No need to give exact location, but is it north, south, east or west?

May help to narrow down those who live in the general area.
