They aren't as happy as I'd hoped a little lethargic. the common isn't doing well. Just spends most of the day on the bottom and is still covered in mucous. No other fish are showings signs of mucous
API test - nitrite is 0ppm
Jbl - nitrite 0.1ppm
Ph 8 & kh 9 drops, getting close to my tap water which isn't surprising

I'm very worried for the common. Reading up on ammonia poisoning and looks like they get to a stage and there's no recovery ... of all the years of keeping fish this has been my lowest week...

Are there still signs of redness on your fish and have you managed to do more scrapes yet? Are any of the fish flashing or laying clamped?

Unfortunately not.. ive been working loads and dont want to try doing the scrapes at night.. I'm away this weekend and can't get out of it, my dads gunna pop around to check the water tomorrow and im going to test it before I leave tonight, I have another wc on now until I leave so that'll be another 25%, so I'll of turned over 100% of the water this week.. . I have Tuesday off so was hoping to get the water right and do some scrapes then.
I'm in a bit of a pickle because even if I do need to treat the fish look what happened to my filter system last time
I've seen the older koi flash which is a concern as due to the water quality being so poor for so long now I could have more chance of parasites... Only fish that's clamping up on the bottom is the common atm.. no redness on the fish.. the water has gone milky over night..

Great that you've got the ammonia down but there's obviously now no treatment in the water so any parasites are going to have a hall pass until Tuesday. I'm wondering if you should at least add an Ammonia locker (Seachem Prime or Safe) to prevent another spike whilst you're away. That combined with no, or very sparse feeding will hopefully at least keep the water safe till you are back.
I'm tempted to say put some FMG in again but that's really not ideal without you there and we're still not sure you're dealing with Whitespot. Some Vitalize could be the answer as it may give them a bit of a boost immunity wise till you can scrape again and that won't do any harm to the filter.
You're now in the situation of buying more and more things to use, but I'm afraid this is why so many of us end up with a 'koi shelf' of tubs, bottles and packets as you never know what you may need when!

Sorry ... bleary eyes this morning! Missed your bit at the end about the water going milky over night. That's worrying as that hints to me of classic cycling problems common in aquariums. Ive never experienced that in a pond even when starting from scratch. Only thing that ever turned my water milky was Cloverleaf Blanket Answer for blanket weed, and I've stopped using that in favour of Aquasource Resolve. I take it you've not added anything like this to the water?
Hoping someone else can jump in here with more insight as to how best to handle this.
Have you stopped feeding and is your dad able to do water changes for you whilst away if necessary?

I haven't added anything since the pond bomb immediately after the 50% wc. That's a good idea about something to stop another spike and the vitalize. I'll pop into wow on my lunch break and also ask about this milky water, they seem to be very knowledgeable. I'm not worried about spending more money, I just need to get it sorted, its been a very stressful week. Those poor fish.
I've sorted a quarantine tank for Tuesday to house my ochiba and kohaku as I'm concerned the little kohaku has hardly eaten since he went in the pond 2 weeks ago as he was very shy.(I don't want to start that tank up whilst I'm not there) but unfortunately I have no space for a small swimming pool etc to house the other fish in and obviously cannot get someone to look after them as theres a possibility they have parasites.. so I'm just going to have to get this right with them in the pond.

Well I'm very pleased to say that yesterday and today my ammonia is back to between 0-0.25ppm as per the api kit
Nitrite 0ppm - api
Nitrate 3-5ppm - jbl / 40ppm+ api
Kh 9drops(jbl), ph around 8 api and jbl
My api kit seems to give ridiculously high nitrate readings even on my fish tank and tap water.
Sat by the pond and the fish are acting like normal.. I have fed them a little and the common is eating and not spitting it out I think he's gunna make it .. still a quite heavy mucoused but the redness had gone from his underside.. im going to monitor them closely and if I see any flashing or odd behaviour I will do some scrapes on Tuesday.. thanks everyone for your input

Happy Christmas everyone.
I thought I'd revive this thread rather than start a new one as it's an update with a question..
So after sorting my ammonia issues back in September I've been battling with nitrite.. basically I ended up treating with salt but i'm pleased to say a few weeks back the levels started to drop my latest tests are as follow
Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0.01ppm
Nitrate 5ppm
Kh 11/12drops
Ph 7.8-8
The ponds heated to 16 through an ashp and covered with polycarbonate sheets with an air gap over the window.
Now to the new issue. I have finally installed my barbus camera and noticed most of the fish flashing, not much but just every once in a while. When my nitrite was high before I covered the pond I'd seen a bit of flashing but put this down to the high nitrite readings and it did make a difference adding salt and they seemed to calm down. Anyway obviously now my nitrite is under control it can't be that so I scraped 3 of the 6 fish(back/pecs and gills) but found very little except in the 3 attached pictures. Do they look like flukes?? And what would u do in my position? I'm reluctant to treat with such little evidence. The only thing with my water tests is could such a high kh be upsetting them??
Many thanks adam

i once used this in winter cold weather. and i got rid of flukes. here is the write up i treated twice lol
FLUKE SOLVE
Koi Pond Treatment for Fish Skin & Gill Fluke
Fluke-Solve is the result of in-depth research by veterinary fish experts who have recognised the need for ornamental fish keepers to have access to high quality veterinary pharmaceutical products which are both safe and effective.
The active ingredient in Fluke-Solve™ is praziquantel which has been used in a range of fish species for the control of a variety of fish parasites since the early 1990's, with specific studies in carp for cestode (tapeworm) infestations as well as ectoparasites such as monogean trematodes, or flukes.
Extensive trials have shown no toxic effect of Praziquantel on the natural wildlife of the pond.
Although this powder still retains its easy-to-use format (just rip and tip the sachet into some pond water, stir, and return to the pond) it now has the added benefit that it can be used at much colder temperatures – it has been successfully trialled at temperatures as low as 3?C!! One simple treatment is all that is required for adult flukes and larvae, with a second dose a couple of weeks later to take care of any hatching eggs.
• 10 grams to treat 2,500 litres (550 gallons)
• 50 grams to treat 12,500 litres (2750 gallons).
• 100 grams to treat 25,000 litres (5500 gallons).
hope this helps you and good luck with it
