Unhappy Put my goldfish to sleep today with clove oil

He was 20+ years old and went very peacefully,

I知 just wondering if anyone could diagnose this as I知 worried it has spread to my koi or goldfish. ( not showing any symptoms yet )

    thanks

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Hopefully someone else will be along soon to give you some idea as I would have thought at 20 + years old for a gold fish it could have been old age?

Did you do any scrapes to see if any parasites were present? Maybe a bit too late to do them now as they don't tend to hang around long once the fish has died?

What was it doing that made you need to put it to sleep?

Have you got any water quality readings?

Anything you have added to the water recently?

The more information you can give us the more likely an answer will be hopefully?

Water quality all fine, no scrapes as I don’t own a microscope yet, goldfish don’t molt though so don’t think it was old age. Just baffled. Put it down because it clearly wasn’t happy and my local koi dealer said it was unhelpable

Probably best in the long run. Just keep an eye on the rest of the fish in the pond.

If you put what area you are in then there maybe someone local to you that has a microscope etc?

    No problem

I'm about 45 minutes to an hour away from you if you can't find anyone closer. I think there is someone else not too far from you on here though

Might be worth putting a post up saying something like - Help required in Southampton area, or something along those lines?

Sorry I thought I'd replied earlier. I saw your other thread and it looked like you were getting some replies on it from people a bit nearer to you.

Hope you got it sorted now?
