    Pond Colour after Acriflavine Treatment

I have treated my pond with Acriflavine to the correct dosage but the water is clear.

I presumed that the colour would be green as the Acriflavine is a luminous green when mixed in a bucket prior to putting in the pond.

My pond is 4400 gallon / 20000 Ltr. and I have used the Dosage: 10mls to 456 Litres (100 gallons) of pond water.
    Which is 549 Mls

I turned off the UV and also the trickle in.

Anyone else used Acriflavine in the pond and it stayed clear?

    Thanks

Last time I used it in my 500 gallon at grow on at it stayed greenish. But that was a couple of years ago. Unless they have added some ingredients to it in that time to now.

    Hi Fred,

I have seen it used before and Im sure it went green, my pond has a slight tint of green.
I could be getting mixed up with another treatment but time will tell.

    Thanks

    Richard

Are you thinking of FMG, Malachite Green stains everything it touches and leaves the pond green for some time?

    Hi Roy,

It could have been as it wasn't my pond and it was a couple of years ago.
It was the colour when I first mixed it in a bucket which lead me to believe the pond should be a bit greener.

    Thanks

Yes normally goes really bright green, looks almost radio active.
this normally stays for a few day until it starts to clear.
i used to use it in quarantine tank with salt to treat dropsy

Hi I used the amount off the NT Labs Web Site I have just read back my post and it said 440ml which is a typo I will change it to the correct amount which was 550 ml

its not as green as the pic, no where near.

    You’ll require*
    549.53 ml

10 ml per 80 gallons (364 litres) If necessary, perform a partial water change and repeat the treatment 7 days after the previous dosage. The treatment can be safely repeated up to 4 doses.

Here are some pics. Treatment went in yesterday at 2

Last pic is one of the fish that has these white areas. I have scrapped several fish and found nothing. Will scrape again over the weekend.

    Thanks

You spend all your money and time to stop it going green and then you go and do that, no sense in some people lol

it still should be green have you checked if it’s in date, I’ve never used the nt labs one but would expect it to be the same.

Hi, its in date I checked it before I opened the bottle.

Strange how its not green as its very luminous when first mixed in bucket before adding to the pond.

Just a stab in the dark here. Are you using ST lol. It affects PP. Could be doing the same to your treatment.
    Just a guessing lol.

    Hi Fred,

You might be onto something. I did put a bit of ST in last week as did a large water change and then upped the speed of the trickle in to top up get the levels back.

I don't normally use ST but thought Id put some in just incase the flow through the dechlorinator was to fast.
