Bactarad with Salt in the water
Hello
Currently got the pond salted to 0.6 to treat ulcer and fin rot on 2 koi.
now with the spring tempos approaching i would like to treat the pond with Bactarad once temps get above 12 degrees.
I was just wondering as I looked on the packing it says contains Formaldehyde but also says "can be used if salt is at tonic level"
Any advice please as NT albs website claims yes it can be I am wary as 0.6 is above tonic level.
Jim
Ps no quarantine tank hence treating all the pond. Filters all great params all great.

I can't help you on your question really but if it was me I would get the salt out before treating anything else in, just personal opinion and obviously it will take a hell of a lot of water changes to get salt out.
Be very wary of the temperatures at the moment, they could well drop suddenly in the next few weeks4600 Gallon Concrete Block and Fiberglass

Hi there
yes did that did a couple of water changes over two days and got the salt down to 0.3% which is classed as tonic level.Did some research on the net and other people have successfully used Bactarad at this concentration.
Made sure Ph was stable at 7.3 before I proceeded. and ammonia was negligible .Not been feeding for last couple of weeks as the gang showed no interest and it was cold.
Water temp is 10 degrees at the moment so got the bactarad in yesterday. So far no adverse effects on the fish.
Yes you are right thought get this done before this winter temp lunge comes later in the week.
