any advise please, just got a microscope done my first scrape and found skin flukes on one fish there was 3 of them , I also seen perfect black circles with a dot in the middle hope this was air bubbles ? my fish are currently in 1000 litre holding tank outside while I am refurbing the pond so shoul be pretty easy to treat I hope ?

Hi mate the best treatment for flukes is flukesolve, it's pricey but so effective do worth every penny. Was it just a circle with a black outside rim ? If so it's a only a bubble. If it's spinning it could be trichondia or white spot.

Thats the youtube link laura its same for me, when using tapatalk they are un watchable but if theyve been posted through tapatalk then we can see them if on desktop then the numbers/letters we see are watchable. You have to add the code we see into you tube search and thats how i watch them, Hope that helps.

Not sure which parasite / treatment sticky to add this to - Maybe the 3 threads need a tidy up and merging into one.

This is a very good video covering scrapes, gill biopsies, Costia, Gill Flukes, Fin rot and red lesions all in one.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZZsO_1pDlo

The treatments used are equally interesting:

Costia is treated first using one dose of Formalin.
Flukes second using a weekly dose of trichlorfon (Trichlorphon in the UK) for 3 weeks. (This treatment needs a low PH to be effective).
And Finrot / bacterial by feeding home made medicated food for 2 weeks.

He makes the scrapes look so easy that I suspect the first Koi is anaesthetised, but the second Koi definitely isn't.

Since I managed to obtain a nice quality image, thought I'd upload video to share a clear view of a skin fluke at different magnifications using an Apex Practitioner and an Apex Minigrab.

Gyrodactylus - Skin Fluke Video showing x40, x100 and x400 magnification.
