First Fluke problem First Fluke problem [emoji30][emoji30]First Fluke problem [emoji30][emoji30]

Yesterday I noticed one of my koi acting out of the ordinary, done a scrape and noticed under the microscope a fluke First Fluke problem [emoji30][emoji30] then also find it on one of my others, gutted to say the least.

This is the first time I’ve encountered this, I’m about to treat my pond with fluke solve plus but wondering do I need to keep my shower on constantly ? Or just keep the air on from the bottom drain ? And contain all the treatment within the pond.

Would the shower and other filtration not eventually filter out the treatment within the pond ?

    Advise would be much appreciated

    Uv switched off .

Biggest problem is the shower they seem to be hiding all the nasties away from the treatment to the point that some people are removing them as a filter and sticking with moving bed .

If this is the case with yours you could dismantle your shower and submerge the media in a treatment

    great advise mate.
Showers are a problem for fluke treatments,
but i did 200 scrapes of my shower and shower media a few years ago when i had a resistant strain. and never found a single one.
when the fish were crawling with them.

The problem with showers is they act like giant protein skimmers knocking the medication out of solution, and then oxidising it.
best like you say is to submerge it, if not at least turn it down or off if you can manage the ammonia.

    Thanks guys.

I removed the media yesterday and gave it a good soak.

It says with fluke solve plus to retreat 3 weeks later also, is that not a little long between treatments First Fluke problem [emoji30][emoji30] I’ve been reading lately that fluke solve plus isn’t as effective as some others on the market. Has anyone had good experience with it, panicking a little as one of my koi isn’t moving too well as the others, only really moves if I go near with the net then springs to life a little.

Praziquantel from Duncans " Chemical factory " is good.

Its 100% Prazi whereas fluke solve is 50%.
