Chagoi Infection
Hi All
About a week ago the infection on the back of my Chagoi appeared and has slowly got worse- see attached photo. Scrapes from several fish in the pond have revealed nothing but I am going to try again. Is this what white spot looks like?
Does anyone recognise this infection, I would be extremely grateful for any suggestions
Thank You..

It doesn't look like white spot but it does match what you might expect to see as secondary infections from parasites, or from genuine minor injuries that are failing to heal due to poor water quality.
So it is worth doing another scrape or 2 to rule out parasites, and those scrapes don't need to be on this koi, try scraping a different koi even if it doesn't have similar symptoms.
In the meantime I would be inclined to do the following;
1) Make absolutely sure all water parameters are good and fix that issue if they aren't.
2) Put this koi in a bowl of shallow water that comes to just below where these marks are and brush on some tamodine over the infected area to kill any infection.
If water quality is good it shouldn't take much more than a week or two to fully heal up. A 2nd tamodine treatment will be required if there's no improvement after 5 or 6 days.
If you find other new injuries/infections start to appear then it would seem a parasite issue is most likely.

Thank you very very much for the advice, I will be doing some more scrapes this evening and rechecking the water. I am just about to move them to a new pond so would love to get this sorted before the relocate.
Thank You again.
Bottom drain alternative!
just use a retro drain, with only 4" circumference you would restrict the flow rate. and as you...
