    Missing scales

So as per title, my Yamabuki Ovon has managed to knock off half a dozen scales. No idea how, pond is netted and all water parameters are clear. I did scrape 4 other fish yesterday to check as I’ve been on holiday and all are clean as a whistle. Didn’t notice this at the time so didn’t do this particular fish.

Two things - I was planning to leave it and monitor - or would the advice be to get it out and treat with some anti-back just to be on the safe side?

Second thing - any idea how it’s managed to do it? Seems an odd place? Only protrusions into the pond itself are returns which are rounded over and bottom drains.

    I'd leave it.

Same thing happened to my Chag a couple of weeks ago and it's already fully healed like it never happened.

I'd keep a close eye on it too, as long as the water is good - proper good - it should heal without intervention.

OTOH if you're the sort of Koi keeper who regularly nets, bowls, measures, treats etc.etc their fish, maybe that's a different story, but not me

I've got a little Shiro Utsuri that somehow split her dorsal fin at about the 3rd ray, almost from top to bottom, about 3 weeks ago, now it's very nearly healed all the way up

As far as I can test for properly good Missing scales

I don’t like to bother them if I can help it. I don’t like the added stress of netting and bowling unless needed. No issue doing it, but don’t unless there’s a good reason.

Thanks John. I think I will monitor and any issues I’ll get it out and Tamodine it.

Great holiday. Went to the states to see the family members that emigrated there 30 years ago.
