Parasites? Microscope pics inside.
Hello all
Been reading the forum for over a year now after building my pond last year, but this is a first time post.
Hopefully looking for some guidance. My koi started flashing after introducing some new fish. Water tests all fine. PH last night was very high 9.1 but my PH has always been high since day one. Normally it hangs around 8.5-8.7 and today it was back to 8.7. I wonder if the high PH caused them to flash?
I've done a scrape, but it was my first time. I have looked online to try and match to a parasite, but can't tell. Can anyone tell me what they think of the photos?

What are your other water parameters like?
You must still be going through new pond syndrome?
Although having said that, chances are it's probably parasites. Pretty much every fish I have bought over the last couple of years have been crawling in them - whether from other people's ponds or from dealers.
It doesn't look like the first two slides were focused to the right depth. So hard to say from them. Can't see any in the later slides either.
But I'd say keep doing the scrapes and keep looking for anything moving. Also when doing the scrapes you want to be looking at them as quickly as possible. The longer you leave them, the sooner the parasites stop moving and become harder to spot.

Despite owning a microscope. I actually don’t know much about magnifications and stuff. I was just reading reviews here and I just kinda put things in the slide and move bits around cuz it’s fun so don’t really know how to tell you the magnification. Although when looking at the ends of the wormy bits, they kinda just disintegrated into nothing and split. I didn’t see any structure (unfortunately don’t have any more pics). Although everything you said makes so much sense about being plant matter and such. Can’t say I know anything of that pudding you are talking about but anything that looks like fish poops gotta be bad. I can’t thank you enough for the help. I searched so hard online to find someone who knows anything to do with fish bits in microscopes. No one seems to have the knowledge xD. May I ask how you know all this stuff? Any good books? I’m actually about to go on an internship in marine biology and am super interested in looking at all this Aquatic stuff under microscopes but have no clue where to get info. So any advice would be amazing.
