Can I have some help identifying this please?
Found this at x1000.
Scrape from head of my chag which was looking like there was quite a lot of mucus. Could only find one.
Apologies for the terrible video but only using my iPhone at the moment. I’ve uploaded to Dropbox so hope it works.

Mate your camera work is shocking. Mine is poor but not that bad. You know your microscope (probably) has a dial for contrast too right?
Ive screen shot tee the video to see if I can add some contrast. I'll see later.

At the moment I am assuming it is white spot so plan to treat for it. My local dealer is recommending Alparex. I can’t find any info on wether this would affect the filter bacteria. I have seen that EX5 is safe with bio filters so not sure what to do now?

I agree with you regarding it being whitespot, on your original post you state it was found at 1000x should this read 100x. As I struggle viewing at 400x on mine.

For the brief 100th of a second where the camera actually made it to the microscope eye- piece I'm pretty sure I saw white spot.
A course of Kusuri premix FMG would be my treatment of choice if pond temps are above 12C.

[QUOTE=twokoi;375664]Objective at x100 then I multiplied this by the eye piece at x10?
My photography isn’t improving in big steps but took another scrape today from the chag who now has a white patch of slime, this video is what came from it.https://www.dropbox.com/s/vzstcc6fvm..._8185.mov?dl=0

[QUOTE=Grommett;375705]The closest thing that could be to any parasite I've seen is still white spot.
I've never seen white spot at x1000 magnification so I can't say for sure.
Normally you can see white spot on the fish with your eyes. Look very carefully at the fins, a Chag would be a good example as white spot stands out against the brown fin colouration and if it's there you'll see tiny white pimples.

Hi RS
The only thing visible is the extra slime on the chags head. I have seen white spot before in aquarium fish but no sign of it on any of the koi so far. These things are definitely not visible to the naked eye.

I did try to make the original video better and improved the contrast but it still didn't help as the camera still veered off to the side every time the blob was about to come into focus.
The second video is awesome. I would approach Lincs Fish Health for a positive ID but I agree with RS2000, in that it does move like whitespot.
It isn't a fluke, so I would get some FMG at the ready while you wait for a positive ID.

As i understand it when there are actually whitespots on the fish the infection is at a more advanced stage. The whitespot can be seen under a microscope without there being the outward signs on the fish.

Decided to go for the Alparex and put it in this morning. Will update how it goes on the Total Loss thread as there seems to be a bit of controversy on this stuff at the moment. Fair to say I’m biting my nails a bit at the moment

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
