New Fish
Got a new fish that came in on Wednesday and for some reason he spends a lot of the time swimming up and down the window, like as if he's demented, could there be a reason for this anyone know?, his mate that came in the same time doesn't do it and neither do the other fish?
Pond is new and parameters are spot on, it seems.

Sounds like a bit of stress like AJ says.
Either that or its a lively young Tosai.
Should settle down after a couple of weeks.

Noticed a fish I've had a few weeks now flash and today I saw my new Shiro flash a few times, trying to learn how to use the microscope so I can do a scrape and check, noticed some blood lines [like veins] in a couple of fins also.
Had to treat the other fish yesterday for a scale that was starting to raise on tale tube, got him out sedated him and applied Tamodine under the scale and sprayed a topical spray over the top, had been fine until I took his mate out, will I think he was fine.
Ponds been ok with the fish I had, until I added the two new ones, I'm thinning out my grow on tank now so that I can quarantine any new fish I get in the future, NPS strikes again perhapsLast edited by Tom Koi; 05-04-2021 at 09:56 PM.

Definitely sounds like there's further investigation to do with the scope.
Red streaks in fins I've always found to be water quality related, albeit can show up after the water quality issue is fixed leaving uncertainty as to the cause.
Flashing obviously needs a closer investigation.

Red streaks are only on the two new koi as well. All parameters have been spot on, Chlorine, PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate, I regularly dose with Envirex as well, I dropped at least 2inches of water on Wednesday as well, cause I fitted a new Amalgam to Drum, I use trickle in and overflow out through Skimmer.
Be really disappointed if it was water quality, pond is 5000 gals profidrum combi and a 4 tier 1500 shower full of BHM, I dose the bio on drum with Activex as well.Last edited by Tom Koi; 05-04-2021 at 11:13 PM.

I wouldn’t worry too much about odd window behaviour, unless there is flashing, sulking or hanging in the water as well. Fish can see their own reflection from the inside of the window and some of them seem to find this fascinating. I have one fish who spends her entire time looking either at herself or us in the house, I’m not sure which.

I agree with Feline, I have one that when it catches a reflection of itself, seems to want to spend a lot of its time trying to fight itself.

I also have a fish that spends quite a bit of time just swimming at the glass, possibly admiring itself. It is a nice looking koi so don't blame him.
I also have a Showa who thinks he's a cleaner wrasse. It spends a lot of time sat just below the bigger fish, occasionally nibbling their flanks. Bit of a weirdo really.
As long as you keep checking your water and keep an eye on the fish, it'll probably resolve itself once the fish settle in. Sounds like you are doing everything you can to deal with any issues as soon as you identify any.

I’m wondering if your fish just has a personality like my Sheba, she spends almost all day zooming around looking out of the window , here she is today while it was snowing and hailing

My new Showa was doing this for a day or so when it stopped feeding but is completely normal again now, have scraped and only found 1 dead tric on it. Could be the settling in and weather but I would scrape to be sure.
Best plants to remove Nitrate
