Thought too good a start - Is this white spot :(
Afternoon all
Crap morning, found many fish flashing on the bottom of the pond this morning, put off working and did full water test, all are as relatively close as on the weekend (New Pond - 1 new Drako drum & Bio on BD's and Mature Nexus/Sieve on skimmer line)
Spent an age trying to catch some fish, got a couple, done a couple of scrapes (new to this other than a couple of practices) couldn't see any movement but my daughter found this round thing, it was not moving though...
Any thoughts please ??

If it isn't anything then I am stumped what is up with them

Isn't that just an air bubble?
Sorry to hear that you're having problems though.

I think it is now yes, just done a 3rd scrape, second fish and all looks clear to me
I have Parasite Answer here... trying to stop myself just putting it in, water is relatively okay
Nitrite > 0
Nitrate 0
Phosphate 2
Ammonia > 0
PH 7.5
GH 19 drops
KH 8 drops
Seneye says
Temp 7.625
pH 7.51
NH3 0.137
so very similar to Colombo test kitLast edited by dbs; 03-12-2020 at 02:56 PM.

Could it just be a delayed response to the Ammonia levels, they are going down daily... running out of thoughts here Hmmmmm

With apologies to your daughter, the picture is out of focus, but it's round and stationary with solid dark edges so it looks like an air bubble to me too.

Well I am lost for ideas, Do I do a big water change, or give them a day or two, or put some Parasite Answer in just in case - Oh Dear
Could there be something else in the water that the tests don't pick up... no rain that's for sure as still under the marquee
I have turned the bright LED working light off that I have had on from 7:00am until 11pm every day just in case that was something to do with it, though doubtful HmmmmmmLast edited by dbs; 03-12-2020 at 07:27 PM.

Sorry to hear you`re having problems .
As tempting as it may be , its never a good idea to put treatments in the pond until you have a good idea of whats going on . It`ll only stress the fish more , and if it turns out to be the wrong treatment , you`ll have to wait longer to add the correct one - causing even more stress .
Might be a good idea to try and get someone local to have a look and give you a 2nd opinion . Two heads are better than one !
Hope you get to the bottom of it !Colin

Thank you, and yes wise to say, I hope to find someone tomorrow after I see how they are in the morning.
I may do a small water change tomorrow, I will test tap water first just incase Sunday's change was the culprit... I started to drain some today whilst I checked the water but stopped that after the tests, so only down an inch or so...
One thing I did do on Monday thinking back, was to add more EA filter Gel, I can see that being a cause.
Fingers crossed tomorrow is better

What’s the pH variability like over a 24h period?
Have you the ability to test for chlorine?
Sometimes with a new pond there is nothing drastic actually wrong with the water, but the fish are just not used to it. It’s worth repeating scrapes in a couple of days though just to check you’re not missing anything- sorry I don’t know how practiced you are with that kind of thing so I don’t want to be patronising
If I ever have a situation like yours where the fish seem irritated but I just can’t find anything in the water or scrapes to cause it- I use some Pond Detox formula (the stuff Lincolnshire Fish Heath sell, it’s available online from Coastal Koi if you’re interested).
It will mop up all kinds of things including a bit of ammonia and nitrite, so is a good emergency-wtf thing to have in your arsenal I find.2016 new 6000 gallon pond

MANY thanks Feline, not patronising at all, only now trying scrapes, and I never did masses of tests either but kitted myself up ready for the new pond and starting a new regime
Thank you for the advice, and opinion, that makes me feel more at ease, I will order from Coastal Koi in the morning and keep an eye on things,
Thankful that I have data from /on seneye on the PH, graph from last week attached...
thanks again

Hi mate agree air bubbles. As said check for chlorine.
And I would scrape more fish. After flukes.
This year. Got rid of them. But fish where still flashing.
I scraped 7 koi. Found nothing. Then did 3 more. On the 10th koi scrape. I found costia. So goes to show. The more scrapes the better. Also in the early days my koi where affected by my air. Out the bottom drain. Took me ages to fathom that one out. I had it on a timer. Took the timer out.
And then played with the power of the air.
To stop them flashing. They don t like change. If I turn the air off now. They go nuts.
Hope you sort it mate

Blimey mate, they are fussy buggers aren't they
Okay great I will do some more scrapes tomorrow if that isn't considered too late as I have crap loads of work to get done before the weekend after taking 1/2 day off yesterday unplanned... I will keep a close eye on them though and try to find the worst culprit, although many seemed to be flashing to some extent (Hard to judge if it was all) I caught 2 of the worst offenders yesterday and they are the ones with the clear scrapes.

Here is a digital dip test, not great and but the only way i have for chlorine, this is out of the filter water just now... looking at it surprisingly not far off the other readings
But looking at the bottom results, what the hell is that ??

Surly my carbon dioxide test in this dip strip can't be correct - I have the following air in pond
- EA 130 going into airyated 2 bottom drains
- EA 130 going into Drako Drum
- EA 95 going into Nexus
The damn pond is like a jacuzzi

i'll have a read up what super saturation causes.
