Hi mate, hopefully someone local will see this soon.
Is there a local dealer or koi association who may agree to assist?
Cheers

In your other post you said,'' that there was a white puss in the gill ''..... Ok I'm going to say it...….please have a look at a
picture of a fish with KHV....especially the gills. I'm not meaning to scare you or anything but you never know. What do you think
Gaz ? I've never looked at a fish's gill's after it had / got gill flukes so I wouldn't know. You do have all the equipment...Net's bowls etc
just in case somebody is able to give you a hand. Good luck and I hope you get it sorted

Hi Anne, ive heard of KHV, but never seen in pictures. will have a look
ive had gill flukes before and tric and costia all easy to see myself under my scope, yep i have bowls, microscope , nets, clove oil to sedate, ect .
cant remember what the gills looked like when i had gill flukes
i just treated with fluke solve , as getting desperate seems to have calmed them down again far less rubbing.
thanks i hope so too.

[QUOTE=Gazkoi;338189]Hi Anne,
Ive not seen the other pic - I really hope it is not KHV..
Cheers
Japanese water garden is really the only dealer that may help, will ring them tomorrow when they are open.
looked on gov site for KHV , my worst effected koi has sunken eyes more than normal for him, but he is a deformed fish always getting ill when others dont.
gills dont look same as gov site, they are still fully intact /dark red/ with 2 white mucus like blobs inbetween 2 gill plates . its same consistency of a good scrap of mucus

thanks, costia is cleared it would seem 2 treatments of FMG , SECOND dose extra 10% formalin and MG 5% 5 days between doses after signs it was still there and a scape inspection confirmed with numbers reduced
after almost 2 years since building this pond its been nothing but issues with fungal, ulcers, fin rot, and parasites. when will it be just an enjoyment .

Well it's good news about the costia at least. Possibly it will just take them a while to fully settle after the treatment.
But I Know what you mean mate. Reckon I must spend 90% of my time thinking something doesn't look right then wondering if I'm over analysing and maybe most people wouldn't even notice what I perceive as a possible issue.
Even things like one day a koi will be sitting on the bottom, never done it before, then next day its fine and never does it again. I'll be wondering for days if it's a sign of something wrong or if it was just having an off day.... Then a few weeks later another koi will do the same and I'm scratching my head again and the cycle continues.

I'm very local but a beginner with virtually no experience of finding parasites so I don't think I'll be any help.
Kitsu Koi, a bit further away, do provide a koi health service, including pond visits. No idea what the cost would be but you could give them a ring.

Hi Gaz and Mark.....no Gaz there wasn't a picture it was what Mark said ...'' White puss in the gill '' just set off alarm bells
well that's a good sign if the gills are red Mark ( I just love going around scaring people ) It's such a shame when people
have nothing but trouble with their fish and there's no enjoyment in it just a constant worry, lets hope Japanese water gardens
can give you some help / advice tomorrow......everything crossed for you...…..

UPDATE
spoken with Matthew at japanese water gardens
he doesnt think i have a parasite problem/ but can rule it out completely but i should try PP DIP for the 2 worst fish at 1 Gram per litre for 30 secs each and see if that reduces symptoms.
my Fish dont produce much of a mucus layer most dont have any at all which he said can cause the fish to be easily irritated by the littlest change
salt dip with help the fish with wounds from rubbing and make the fish produce more mucus which should help reduce rubbing
30 ounce per gallon dip upto 10 mins
pond salt 1/4 ounce per gallon to begin with and upto 1 ounce per gallon over time if need be to avoid stressing the fish and then reduce over time and if required low levels of salt long term
he said i may have PH change through the day , so i need to test morning as early as possible and again in the evening to rule out if its swinging i need to add a buffer.
if i still have problems after all this then to give them a ring and they will come out to investigate.
lockdown means they aint doing home visits unless its serious enough .

thank you Gaz and Anne for those replies sorry bit late getting back to you both,, been without internet after a car crashed into the virgin big green box on main road lol
will have a look at that gaz thanks , seen some at £100 with is mental for a tiny device
anyone here do PP dip's ? its a first for me
i cant understand why my koi barely produce mucus some have non at all.
Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
