    Hi markini,

I read through some of your previous posts about similar issues you had last year.

Your descriptions are very similar to issues I've had previously, especially with the food spitting.

Eating obviously involves the gills, so one would suspect a gill problem.

Any symptoms of flukes, costia, chlorine, poisoning, Ammonia and bacterial gill disease all potentially result in the behaviour you've been seeing.

You are on top of chlorine and Ammonia.

You have treated and cleared out costia.

Only you know your system well enough to be absolutely certain there is nothing getting in the water than can poison your Koi.

You have previously treated for flukes, but they are stubborn, especially gill flukes which are also much harder to find.

That leaves us with bacterial issues and/or the small possibilities of gill flukes.

This post cannot be taken as advice because I don't know your system and haven't seen the symptoms with my own eyes, and even if I had I could still get this wrong.

In my system CT would be my choice since I learned how powerful it can be at the right dose, but what I believe is the right dose for me will not be for you because your water is much softer. Put it this way, I used more than 10 times the amount you used when you last dosed but my pH is 8.2, GH was 18 and KH was 11.

After doing that for 3 consecutive days (which would kill flukes at the dose I can get away with in my water) I'd then wait 5 days and do a big water change, then on day 6 administer a good quality fluke treatment such as Lernex or Lernex pro to mop up any hatching gill flukes. The fluke treatment is a bit shotgun, but when going through what you are, as I have been previously, I'd just go for it.

In the meantime maybe speaking to Paula is a good move, but she may want you to send her a fish before she can commit to anything.

no ammonia readings for 6 months, same with nitrite, 2 weeks ago last tested pond water for chlorine non detected , more tablets on order.

poisoning only possibly is my pump strainers that connect to pumps and sit in the bio chamber, they are stainless steel 304 exhaust baffles sold as 304 grade i wonder is maybe they aint 304 and are a cheaper grade stainless , ive not seen any rust on them when ive had them out, but the off cut thats exposed in the garden to rain shows rust where its seam welded and where i cut it off.

i asked manky sanke a few months back and it would cost a fortune to test the water for concrete leeching ect.

yes costia is totally gone . FMG solved that.

im not sure if to do fluke treatments yet, i might sedate my poorly koi with that white puss on his gills get a sample of it and see what i can find under my scope

When i had a UV i remember not having these flashing/spitting food issues i think im being naive but i hope the addition of a UVC will help as they reduce bacteria levels in the water. to be fair it could be anything . flukes being right up there along with other potential problems.

my PH is 7.9 KH 6 steadily got it up , seems to have made a huge difference on clarity and less frothing from the bakki shower unless im wrong
