    Diagnosis

Hi my fish have started flashing and rubbing.I have treated with fluke m which is on the 6th day and fish have stopped flashing.
One of my fish has 2 red slightly stuck out scales on one side and on the side there is a small patch .I just dipped with acriflavin that is why it looks yellow in the pictures.Could the fluke cause this.I am waiting forIMG-20200521-WA0005.jpg my microscope to arrive.

There could be a number of causes for the raised scales.

Could be a secondary infection caused by flukes, an injury from flashing, an ulcer coming through, or it may be something totally different.

Only way to tell is to wait until your scope comes through and scrape some of your Koi and see if you find anything.

Thanks for replying.I think the fish did have fluke but I can now see on my chaegoi 3-4 white threads on his side.
I didn't say before but I was given about 9 koi and never had any problems in my pond until these.
The person that gave me them said he had no problems and wanted to get rid of some stock to get some new fish.
Should I treat the pond with potassium permanganate.

The big patch on back I have cleaned with nt labs paramedic kit and sealed with propolis. The other side has 3 or 4 inflamed scales which I assume from anchor worm.

I wouldn't treat with potassium permanganate unless you have 100% identified the target.

For example if you have flukes, especially gill flukes the PP won't touch them, but it could kill your fish as they could suffocate during the treatment.

Also there's no certainty that the new fish you added bought something into your pond.

Quite possible there were already parasites in your pond in small numbers living in symbiosis, but the extra fish load and increased ammonia could have acted as a trigger for those parasites to multiply fast.

But also the fact that you've added extra koi will have had an impact on water quality. What are all your water quality readings?

If they are all spot on then next step is the microscope before putting any pond treatments in.

I agree with RS on this. You need to know what your treating.
A lot of people this year and last year have had more then one parasite to deal with.
Like flukes and costia. Or trichodina and
    White spot.
Last year I had flukes and whitespot.
This year flukes. So do the scoping first and go from there.
Nice one by the way on getting yourself
A microscope. It's a great addition. And a must have in my opinion. Your in good hands with RS. He knows his stuff

Here is a compilation picture that I put together showing the best ways to compare the colours of samples to their colour charts to make it easier to determine the levels. Hope it helps.
