Infected Koi spreading throughout pond
Just wondered if anyone knows what this is and how to treat it? I've had this fish for about 15 years and I'd be very sad to see it go; it's also infecting other koi within the pond.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Mr Top, As above I dont know, but while I was waiting I would be spraying some sort of antibiotic on them and if it is spreading needs sorting asap.
Maybe Paula Reynolds would know or suggest,to be honest doesn't look good.John

Sorry I cannot help with diagnosis but I can offer some advise. Do not put your fish down on the grass I’m sure that is not going to help things
If you just need to photograph the fish maybe try to do it from the net when still in the pond.

I keep looking at the pics and I think you need Paula as it looks nasty,ok not red or infected but it is a big open wound.
Think Fred has a link for Paula.John

Agree with john. Paula Reynolds
And it needs cleaning with antibac. To try and stop what's eating away at it. That's way out my league.
Hope you can save it.

Hi thanks for your advice. Probably less than 15 years as you say. I'll see if I can get some help from Paula. Would it be advisable to isolate it in a separate tank? (at this time of social distancing)!

If others infected not much point in isolating,if you have Paula's email I would send that picture.

Hikui
super article in respect of Hikui (if indeed this is the problem). Hikui can get severe if not treated and mainly effects the Beni (which seems to be the main area of concern here). Not sure about the eye TBH.
Will be interesting to hear what Paula advises.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
