Yeah I watched that yesterday which caused me to question. Don’t the photos in my initial post look like it though and not a bubble???

Hi mate,
The very first pic you posted shows Trich and not air bubbles IMHO.
At times it can appear still on a slide depending upon how long it has been on there before you find it and how much water is on the slide.
When I scrape I separate the mucus into two or three ‘blobs’ and drop one droplet of water over the mucus blobs. This eases identification in my experience.
I hope that helps and makes some sense.
Cheers

Been practising again today and I am great at getting really clear or bubbles.....not much else. Best clarity I can get is with the 10/10 but I can’t get anything moving and wonder if I am seeing the wrong layer somehow.
I have watched several videos and it looks so easy. I am using an old Brunel XSP so maybe need to invest in a new scope

What I do is get them in a bowl with a water level so the backs are out of the water, with the card you steal from Screwfix scrape from edge of gill / just behind pec all the way to the tail on both sides. It doesn't matter if you scrape under water the mucus will still stick if you are carful, slide the mucus off the edges of the card with 2 fingers and put it on the glass. Good idea to try to get a scrape on the underneath if possible bit tricky to get but worth doing. Chop the mucus up on the slide with a few drops of water if u need to, it thins it out to make seeing any bugs loads easier
Also tric can be a sign of a dirty system so worth purging drains and giving things a good clean to make sure there's not a build up somewhere and more importantly than all that if you are going to PP make sure u have either peroxide or sodium thiosulfate measured out and ready to go in if there is a problem, and lots of air

its not easy mate to find them initially but after a few trials you will get used to it, all above info is spot on the more mucus and water the better for viewing, once you get your "eye in" you will spot the little buggers, i hope its not going to be a bad spring for parasites due to a mild winter fingers crossed..........

You mentioned that it took you ages to figure it out. Could it have been so long that the trich died or the fluid dried up?
