New pond and flashing
Hey. I've seen a fish flash off the drain 3 times this morning and one fish lunk, I didn't really want to stress them out by netting and scraping as they have only been in there around 2 weeks but what would you do? Perimeters are
Ammonia 0.50
Nitrite. 0
pH. 8
Nitrate. 10
Kh. 7
Parameters haven't changed since starting the pond and having the 3 in there
Do you think it's the ammonia that's irritated them or is it worth scraping?
They are not new fish either

ammonia should be 0 if it can be, I know its a new pond. but it could be ammonia irritating them. if mine flash. I watch them for a couple of days. then if still flashing I then scrape them.
you don t want ulcers on them coming into winter. as that is what they will end up with. if they keep flashing. also could be a sudden drop in temps. water change and less feeding to bring ammonia down. and see if they still flash.Last edited by freddyboy; 05-10-2019 at 12:54 PM.

still trying to get the right level of airflow to the pond, i have a ea 70 pump split between the main pond and the grow on and ive restricted both quite a bit and im about there, i was getting some huge bubbles in the column. i dropped the water level to below the skimmer today so i could try to reseal the skimmer, i was loosing about 25mm a week through some pin holes in my sealant

Mine start schooling rounf and round when the air goes off because they have learned that it means either....
A) Best case scenario - The man's gonna stick a brush in the pond.
B) Worst case scenario - The man is going to take at least one of us out of the pond.
Best plants to remove Nitrate
pug has a very impressive veg filter on his pond, have a look at some of his his youtube videos....
