    DIY Bonsai

i've been training the pine for a couple of years,
but they have only been in training pots this spring.

i'm not really into small 6" tall bonsai,
i like the big bonsai and have been using garden centre plant material, or acers i had grown on in pots to try and get there a bit quicker .
don't know how well they will turn out over the years but i wouldn't pay £1000's for a mature bonsai tree....

i haven't done a lot of pruning with the acers,
had to chop a lot of roots away to get them in the training pots.
so want them to develop a new rootball
i'll do a prune next spring just before leaf out.
