Looks like a Pieris to me.Depending where you are in the country they don't you frost and may benefit from being covered over on a frosty night.

    definately a pieris japonica,
not sure on variety possibly forest flame.
    what colour are the flowers?

i've a PJ 'katsura' that looks similar, they tend to go a bit leggy when old...

Don't know all my plants but my next door neighbour is a keen gardener and told me to cover mine up after it was too late the other morning.! When the frost catches them the tips go brown but will apparently come back later in the year.Yours may be a bit more sheltered than mine are in Huddersfield.
    Cheers Dean.

hi dean, if i covered everything in my garden that needs it my garden would look like a chinese laundry, the only thing i have been covering is my gunnera its in its 4th year and im expecting big things this year it did get some frost burn on the leaves the other morning, i was wondering if i cut the leaves back would it re grow ? dont want to do any damage as i grew this from a 1inch stump
