he's getting a little bigger and the leaf pattern is maturing a bit.
it has some of the serrrations of the parent plant a dissectum viridis,
but similar coluration of the osakazuki that it is nearest to...and probable father

Mint mate slow but fun project like enjoy bud.. Had to bring my little ones in just to wet at the moment and not liking it

I really love Acers and got one from Asda thought it wouldn't do much but its growing well.
It's a tall one up to 3 mtrs but will fill a gap in the corner of the garden.
Would be great to grow one from seed if it works ok.John

last february's frost did for my verigated one never got a leaf but the branches are still supple and springy local garden center says it may come back. the deep red one the leaves are a mixture of red and rust and are just starting to drop. we wait and see if not back to castle howard garden center for another one

it could come back,
they do tend to suffer from dieback, but those branches that do usually go very dry and brittle quickly.
i was almost surprised to see this little one come back after the first winter...
it was barely more than a seedling with just a couple of leaves.
looks a lot stronger now with a more woody stem, and about the same size i bought my osakazuki from an arbouritum.
this one is a very slow grower though....
