Hi my pond is in direct sunlight for most of the day I am looking for something possibly a pergola but open to any ideas to help shade the pond at a reasonable cost
Any help appreciated

Plants round the edge or floating bed, I have seen people use sails above ponds or pagodas, fake lilly leafs on the surface or even popping up the garden umbrella on really hot days! I have direct light with not a lot of shade and I use floating pond plants then I have a large rectangular plant tub with like this reedy plant in it to suit the pond. And I also have my filters beside the pond so when I built around them that also gave me a little more shade in the pond aswell.

A pergola won’t do a great deal unless it’s got a covering of some sort (I have one so speak from experience) a sail may be a better bet.

I have a pergola with 10mm twinwall polycarb sheets on the top and that does the trick. Allows some light in so it's not too dark, but keeps the worst of the sun's rays off the pond.
I still get some direct sunlight come in under the pergola, but only on about a quarter of the pond at most.
I only have my uv come on for 5 hours overnight and my nitrates are high, so by rights the pond should be pea soup colour, but the shade from the pergola means I don't have any issues with algae at all.

Google is your friend, there’s zillions of places that sell them ready made or make them to a bespoke size/design.
Chances are, there’ll be somewhere reasonably local to you.
We got one for over our deck from the local garden centre in “a sale” boom.
