Acers
On my search for a nice acer for the garden I was fortunate to come across this company / charity .
It's actually a day centre for adults with learning difficulties .
The nurseries and petting farm are all part of the therapy for the people who use the centre and all the money raised go back into the running costs and development of the centre .
I bought these 3

Great specimens and a good cause
A have a number of Acers in pots around the pond and a few larger ones in the borders .
The plant pots there in remind me of a mod i did on my Vortex posted it on other forums but worth a share on here and KMF works a treat

They where relatively cheap as well Gavin .
I bought 4 specimen sized acers for £360 .
The bloodgood on its own would have cost most of that in a garden centre .
The lady I delt with there's name is Bex very helpful .5500 gallons

Nice Acers cleveland. Thats a nice way to buy them with all the proceeds going back to the charity. Works both ways, your getting a bargain and the organisation also benefits from your purchase. Maybe you could post some pictures when you have them placed in the garden etc?

Nice one Manny,
Searching for Acers is a load more difficult than finding Koi I'm trying to track down a mature Filigree Lace this season, viewed a few but not yet found "the one"..

These are mine, taken at the week-end.
Two acer palmatums.
This one is about 30 years old. Once the leaves are fully open I'll shape it up. I've since trimmed the skirt.
This is it last year after a "haircut."
This one is fifteen years old.
Same with this one, I'll even off the skirt and remove any wayward new small branches.
So it will end up more like this as it did last year. I had to remove the wisteria around the eaves of the tea-house roof, it was getting too heavy.
This was new to us last year, I'm not going to train it.
Then there's our big "lollipop" acer in the front garden. I shape that in the Autumn with some very long extending pruners. It starts off salmon pink then goes a nice green, it flowers, but they are green too, so hard to see. I moved it from the back garden about twenty-five years ago.
"We do things like that."
We're very much into azaleas. There's about 30 in the back garden. This one in the front garden was a 99p plant pot from Altrincham Market 25 years ago, I've layered it several times so it's about a twenty foot run. It's not all out yet. There's also a couple of bits of it in the back garden.
"The information's out there,
You only have to let it in." (Jesse Stone)

Some lovely Acers being posted, think I've got about 20 scattered around the garden and pond and love them all.
Always a bonus when a charity benefits from something we buy.
