Nice mix of colour there, looking good.

What's the patch on the Sanke's gill plate?

In my Goldfish breeding days you'd get what were called "soft gill plates" on some fish, mainly shubunkins, and the entire gill plate would be a light pink colour with no actual colouration. These fish were said to be weaker, but I never noticed any difference compared to any other fish.

The patch on his gill plate is a splash of colour under the skin, not sure if it shows up too well in the photo, its kind of pale orange looking, the colour seems to have got a bit brighter now than when I first got him, just looked back at my earlier post it looks like a sore in the first pic but it's a patch of colour

    Ah yeah that's clearer now.

It could be "secondary Beni" that comes up later. If that's the case it will finish slightly more orange than the rest of the Beni. Either way it's a lovely koi.

And he's a right greedy bugger, always the first one there at feeding times, on another note I manged to hand feed the ki matsuba on Saturday, he came and had a bit of crab stick, not sure who was more surprised me or the koi

I'm absolutely over the moon, she's a great addition to my pond, didn't realise how much size the others have put on though until this one joined them, she's the smallest one in there at the moment but I'm sure she'll soon catch up

I'm the same, I reckon I could spend thousands and fill several ponds if I could afford it lol
Joking aside though I have got my eye on a particularly nice goromo and I'm looking out for the right goshiki, if only I never had to pay bills

Yeah I think we all could, it's always nice to be on the lookout for something special, for me making it more special very much limits my chances of actually seeing one and buying it
