Very nice indeed, I wish I could get a better picture of my 'Yuki' he's almost exactly the same in every detail, although I'm pretty sure he's male.

    stunner

I'd say female too, just from looking at the picture.
it's pretty easy as the females are substantially lighter than the males.

Good food and 24C for 3+ months this summer and that could go 60cm

Cheers Whitey, I chose a good broad head/shoulders and strong bones when he was only 15cm, last June, now about 33cm we'll have to keep tabs on how our two are doing. I keep saying once he's let out he's going to boss the pond

Ogata, bought from Icklesham Koi, my local, although I hadn't been there for about 14 years! I'll try to get better pics and accurate size this week.

Kiogon looking forward to this to see how they both evolve and what growth rates we get from the same fish but different breeder you have already doubled it's size so your doing something right

Bob your naughty sending me in there wanted a yamabuki but was so hard to not buy another
Seen the siblings to your yellow racer and if I had the cash one would be in my pond now they where stunning if you find a heron in your back don't worry if it's 5,10 with a pot belly it's real and not me dressed up to take your fish

Yea, looking forward to this also, our own little grow 'n show

Yuki the Yamabuki's story; bought June 30th '22 with a Shusui and a Budo Goromo, 150mm each. Kept in my 450 litre QT in my Koi shed, home made K1 static filter, 620 lph pump and 350W heater. No problems with them so September tried putting them in the pond, everything seemed right, matching temps, pH, KH, NH3, NO2, NO3 etc. They were fine for a few minutes then the Shusui swam straight towards me and just died, we think heart attack! Then the other 2 appeared to be getting hassled by the bigger koi, so back to the QT where they have stayed until now. Pampered, kept at 14 - 15c all winter, fed Hikari various and treats Prawns, Calci Worms and sweetcorn ocassionly.

Just waiting for the pond to warm up, it won't be heated, hopefuly they'll go out with no problems, finger crossed.

    Cheers, John

Shame about the shusui but lucky for the other 2 nice warm winter holidays and growth to suit and price wise most probably gained a bit of experience growing

Yes are own grown and show

My pond will be heated to stop the spring temp swings then increase again in the summer to maintain a stable grow season before cooling down for the winter

dave has given me an unofficial challenge to try and get her to 60cm by the end of the season so 26cm to go

Mine will be feed hikari balance and I might get a sack of growth for the summer
