I was the same about showa and kohaku but now on the look out for a nice kohaku hoping to nab a nice one at the show . It was seeing some of the complete units with crisp shiroji (if that's how you spell it lol ) and the steps in colour

Ponds looking great Steve, how are all the fish doing now has all the redness gone? I couldn't see any in the video but didn't know if it was on the underside?

Cheers Sam.
Found trich, did a PP treatment that only stayed purple for 2.5/3 hours, and everything spot on since, all raised scales on all koi gone down within a few days except for a few on the Kirin but she was particularly bad to start with.
I suspect if there's still some trich left the numbers will start increasing again and I'll need to PP again to get a full 4 hours purple, but for now all looks good.
Where did the Trich come from? No idea, I'm certain there was none on my koi before the house move so they've either picked it up through contamination whilst in holding, or I've added them through something I've bought second hand for the pond.

Supposedly they can be found in tap water?

Well there's also been a rat drinking from the pond at night, frogs everywhere, and birds in the waterfall and one that drowned in the pond.
But the fact is 4 koi came home with raised scales so it would be fair to assume the trich might have been picked up through contamination when they were being held.
Or, that trich has been around all along and in the 75+ scrapes done over the last 4 years I've never spotted it, but I think that is very unlikely considering I've treated alparex, FMG and PP for costia and chilo in the last pond which should have taken out any trich, and no new fish added for over a year.

Always a difficult one if you can't put your finger on one particular thing so you can deal with it without thinking will it happen again

Time for an update on this one......
Bought on 31st May as a 24.5cm Chibi Nisai with a nice discount due to the tiny spec of Beni in the pec, which you couldn't really see back then. The hope was that the motoguru would pull back and cover the beni and it would be happy days.
Reality was somewhat different. Within a fortnight virtually all the sumi had dropped off, but the spec of beni in the fin grew bigger and brighter!
3.5 Months later and she's starting to recover some of the Sumi. She has put on a chunk of size as well, now at 33cm.
Fingers crossed the sumi will come back one day.
Here's the original photo for direct comparison:

Another update on this one.
Haven't bowled her this time (she jumped out the bowl last time I bowled her)!
Was advertised as an unsexed Chibi Nisai (Bonsai koi) when I purchased at 24.5cm, so I never had high hopes growth wise, and then as you can see in previous posts she gradually lost all her Sumi and eventually went almost completely white. Pretty confident that she is female.
With the cooler temps she's now filling up with Sumi at pace, and to my eyes looking pretty good. Estimate high 40's now, maybe 48cm:

That is quite a turnaround. I love the pattern.
I didn't realise a shiro utsuri can lose Sumi for it to then reappear.
