Another Video of my Koi - Summer 2021

Posted a thread with a video of my Koi in 2018, then did it again in 2019 and again in 2020.

Can't really stop now, so here is 2021's video, and the older videos re-posted for comparison which are the same Koi each year except 2 from 2019 video and 1 from last year's video that have been moved on and 4 or 5 new additions over the years with the Chag making its first video appearance this year!!!

    Ahhhhhhh that's great

They look very pleased to see you, looks like you have starved them for a few days how eager they are, but likely they are like this every hour in this weather

They amaze me, begging for food like they've not been fed for weeks.... Within 10 minutes of the 4th feed of the day having gone in!

    Thanks AJ.

When I got the Chag it was a bit skinny, started feeding it up big time and within a month it was quite a bit bigger and looked fantastic. I thought what a result.

Then it spawned and all the extra weight disappeared again!

    Looking really nice RS.

Quick question about your anoxic, have you wrapped the baskets in something (tights?). I thought it was the laterite in the middle that has to go in tights or is this something else or for another purpose?

    Cheers

The tights go over the top Gaz in lieu of pebbles. Much easier and cheaper.
Use the left over “waists” for making the balls with the legs.
Sounds a bit wrong that lol

How big is your pond Volume wise RS? I think the balance of colour and stock you have is great and really makes it!

    Hi mate,

    Thanks for the kind comment.

Last year I fed Coppens Top Koi but was getting water staining issues.

This year I'm feeding Saki Balance and water has stayed crystal clear. They also get 1 small feed a day of the Top Koi as I still had some left that needs using up.

I have not noticed any difference in growth rates between the different foods if I'm to be honest. In fact they grew a bit over winter when they hardly got any food.

Most are between 44 and 55cm now and half were bought small, between 8cm and 25cm and a couple in the 30's. The Chag was the biggest I've bought at 53/54cm and most of them are pretty close to the Chag size wise.
