Expect Showa and Kohaku. *Showa has attained a priority pretty much level with our Kohaku production , and over the winter we’ve brought in two further 80cm Showa females to help double our showa production in 2022.

Last year many enjoyed our Oakly Chagoi line, and this year we will be running with our new Mukashi female that we’ve called ‘Opaline’ ; a 94cm 7 year old female that we aquired last year and spawned last year but failed to produce any fry for us. *We expect this year to be more productive from her and these fry could be one to watch. *Opaline as a 94cm 7 year old has good potential to achieve 1m in size herself; and she gives us the chance to bring you that massive growth potential in our fry offering, in Mukashi.

Doitsu metallics will also feature high up the spawning order this year. *They were our most popular fry in 2020, and the spawnings didn’t work out in ’21 unfortunately. *So they’ll take a higher priority this year! *This will include the Beni Kikokuryu that everyone loves; and we also have new Kikusui to spawn with this year too. *These were acquired 2 years ago, and were not quite old enough to spawn last year, but this year we expect to get some output from them. *The Kikusui’s we have are from Yagengi and Kanno, and both of those Japanese koi farms won big awards at this year’s All Japan Koi Show with their Kikusui’s. *So, we hope to bring some of that sparkle through our spawnings from those lines. *And lemon hariwake may also feature too. *

Shusui is on the list too - much loved in 2020, and last year we ran with Asagi. *The general plan is to alternate the Shusui and Asagi each year.

Also expect Karashigoi, and Chagoi. *And Oakly our 105cm female Chagoi may feature again this year too.

As well as the new Showa brood fish, we have also acquired a 4 year old female kohaku which is an offspring of the famous S Legend kohaku; that’s the Sakai kohaku that won the All Japan Koi Show twice and sold for 1.8m USD. *So you can see why our new Kohaku will be featuring this this year’s spawnings! *Also, after taking some years to find good Shiro Utsuri males, we finally have good Shiro output last year and have bolstered the ranks with a new 80cm female Shiro Utsuri and also a team of 2yo Shiro’s from Omosako so that we can increase production of this much loved variety too. *When you see the tosai output we have this spring from our Shiro spawning last year… *you’ll understand why we had to get behind this one too.

And finally… *we have been busy this winter augmenting our lines as you can see. *But there’s one more to tell you about and this is Doitsu Ochiba. *Last year we produced some from our Doitsu Karashi spawning which was unplanned. *We weren’t expecting any to feature in that spawning, and although few in number , they’ve grown really well and everytime I put pictures of them on our our social media… *the interest is notable. *So, we’ve acquired some particularly good Doitsu Ochiba’s to spawn from and we’ve found older examples to give us a reasonable chance to produce some fry off them this year. *But, there’s a chance it may take another year before they produce for us. And there’s always the chance with any koi that they may never produce! *We are hopeful, and watch this space.

He seems to have come on a lot and that is a good selection to breed from.
Was never really interested when he just did Kohaku as you can get a lot of all white or all red.

A lot of work having the 2 to 3 week olds would think,as its messing about with breeding brine shrimp which is a chore.

I didn't last year mate I used these mate they loved them and worked well
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HERONS-Pr...-127635-2958-0

Only for a couple weeks then on the to first step fry food anyway

Just gotta make sure the filter is very slow . Might even keep if off for a week or 2 and just have a trickle in out and could air stones

Yeah mate I would feel the same if it was just kohaku but looks a very nice variety few metallics . Seems a decent bloke when talking about the fry when I've messaged him

So they can have dry food at 3 weeks old then, not so bad.

Just been out fixing my main pond leak, had to drop the water level a bit more, bit of sanding on the glass then some pu18 on.
Leave it for a couple of days then top up and hope for the best.

I was a bit concerned about the leak and hope it's this,if it was more serious I would Jack it in,as couldn't put up with draining the whole pond to repair it.

No honestly I couldn't do with putting the koi in a temp pond draining down and looking for a leak, would get rid first.

I am sure it's by the skimmer, the koi were nosey coming up to see what I was doing.
