This is something I’d like to try next year if you ordered say 100 fry what’s the chances of getting some real quality koi? Or do they keep the better fry themselves?

To be honest they do grade them and keep the best but that is only natural, doesn't mean one good one doesn't slip through and a mix variety is the best bet.

I currently have a few from Adam it was a Mix of Karashigoi, chagoi , ochiba, soragoi I don’t think much grading could be done on these apart from size grading.

My Cuttlebrook fry.
I went to visit Adam to see his set up and also have a look at what larger fish were available. being late in the season most sale stock had already gone. I had an empty grow on vat and he had some jumbo fry so I took just 15 of them as I did not want 100s to have to move on. I believe they were 6 weeks old.
Few weeks on now and they have grow well

My Cuttlebrook fry.
Adam specialises in Kohaku but also has lots of others. I see some stunning Showa there that unfortunately were either sold or not yet available for sale but I will be keeping my eye out for them.
Not sure what you mean by ‘that is a different light’
Here they are the day I got them.
I picked one metallic just to mix it up a little but this is the guy with the deformed mouth
I must get some more recent photos, I have an auto feeder ‘that’s what they are sitting under’ but I can only program that 5 feeds a day.
I do hand feed between times as and when but I may get a better feeder.
What feeder are you using?

A Profi feeder is the most epic for fry because you can actually program it to automatically increase the overall feed quantity each week by a percentage you set, but still divided over the number of feeds you chose.
Costs more than the fry did though2016 new 6000 gallon pond

He's got a Kohaku there for me that I bought back in the spring, but pond is still not ready
Did he have some nice littleuns to grow on there? my lad lives at Horsham and we were going up at end of the month and was intending to go up to Adams, but we are in lockdown here, so snookered now,
