The koi and pond look stunning Dave, and so healthy.
They all seem big bodied, are they all female?
What are you feeding?

Thanks RS
they need a bigger home, but it's getting as bit late in the year for it now.
plus the 'negotiations' are still ongoing...
pretty sure only the shiro is female,
all the rest were chasing her when she had a little bit of a spawn earlier in the year.
but she's still a bit of a fat lass so might not have spawned out completely...
i've been feeding queni's ultimate koi, the same as coppens top koi.
i've been slowly upping from 100g to about 200g a day over the last couple of months.
mixed in with about a handfull of dried mealworms each day.
plus a slice of melon most days, and prawns and mussels about 3 times a week.
but i've had to up my maintenance and water changes, to keep the water sweet.
as the amout of waste they produce has increased proportionally.

Cheers Dave.
I'm also on the Top Koi. It seems to be causing a brown tint to my water, have you noticed that?
I'm Also seeing a lot of waste on pond floor in the mornings which I don't recall seeing when I fed Saki Growth last year.
I suspected your Shiro was almost certainly female. It's a stunning koi.

i did notice the water starting to get a a bit of a tinge to it, i'd imagine thats due to the very high protein level.
and had a bit of DOC (posh word for dissolved fish poo ) foam forming on the surface as i increased the food level, until the filters had chance to catch up.
but increased settlement and filter brush cleaning frequency, plus increased water changes soon had everything sparkling again.
i'm currently doing 5% a day trickle in/out between 8 in the morning and 8 at night, automated by a solenoid valve on a timer.
the shiro has come on really well,
she's had by far the biggest growth of them all, best pattern improvement, and was also by far the cheapest fish in there....
she also eats more than twice what the other fish do lolLast edited by davethefish1; 06-08-2020 at 10:35 AM.

Dave,
Your first video - that is one of the nicest videos of a koi pond I think I have ever watched. Must be going soft!
