These are the fish that started it all (the nicer one)..... One that I saw 2 years ago but at just under £1700 wouldn't ever be able to afford:

The closest I could find around the £100 mark was this one which I've now had for 2 years, lovely friendly fish that hasn't deteriorated in the slightest since I've had it, but doesn't want to grow past 40cm and the metallic isn't as reflective as I wanted. (The markings change colour through the year between dark brown in the summer to this orange colour in winter and spring which I love about it).

So I asked Gary at Gatwick Koi to find me one as close to those in the video but for under £200 and bred by Kase. This was the only one he could find, a 28cm Nisai so I accepted it and have chucked it into my 380 litre fry tank until the pond temp warms up:

The brown is a bit more gold rather than brown, but the metallic sheen is much more reflective than my first Metallic Ochiba so I'm looking forward to see how it develops as it grows.

The other funny thing is the size, 2 years old and Nisai, yet quite small compared to my home grown 8 Month old Tosai and only a little bigger than the runt.
I just read this, I went to Gary’s shop few weeks back now and grabbed a gin rin shiro utsuri... Iv wanted one for a while now probably not the best photo but he’s a peach love the head marking. He’s got some beauts down there. IMG_9662.JPG
