    Check this Showa development.

This has been on Gatwick Koi's website for over a year and he's had no interest in it. I've looked at it myself a few times and didn't think the Sumi would come through:

    https://gatwickkoi.com/koi-for-sale?...fno=&submit=Go

Thinking he'll never sell it he puts it on Facebook with £100 off and an up to date video:

    https://www.facebook.com/14200377349...613398603/?t=1

Wife told me about it and I immediately emailed to buy as did 4 other people and unfortunately I missed out.

Just goes to show nobody could have predicted how stunning this fish would become. In my opinion he could have put it up for £100 more than the original asking price and sold it immediately.

It was on website for £595 for over a year since it was Nisai. I'd looked at it a lot of times but it was too expensive and too risky that Sumi wouldn't develop as there was no visible underlying Sumi anywhere really.

He then took a new video and stuck it on Facebook at £495 to drum up interest.

Wife saw it and told me. I fell in love, realised it was same fish and emailed him immediately which was around 20 mins after he posted it.

Got a reply saying 4 people had requested it before me and it was sold!

Gutted to think it had sat there for a whole year! Don't think I've ever seen such a stunning Doitsu Showa, let alone at that price.

Now I'm looking at other Nisai Doitsu Showa's wondering if they could develop the same..... But haven't got a clue!

Agree totally mate. (Except the bit about Showas lol).

£500 is double what I've ever spent before, plus I'm skint. I just badly wanted it and would have found the cash. The overtime from Xmas day and Boxing day which I've not been paid yet would have covered it.

It would have been best fish in the pond for sure I reckon.

if i as paying 500 pounds upwards. the fish would have to be developed. not wait to see if this color comes out or that color comes out. when i retired the lads bought me 5 fish. 500 pounds upwards for a retirement presssie.
I lost the lot to new pond syndrome and chlorine, I was gutted. and the best fish was a great looking goromo. I aint seen one since in the same league. it looked just like purple grapes pattern. when I do its mine. as there my favorite fish. I have one now but its a mutt compared to that one. I like a good showa. but with scales on the body. saying that. I would nt say NO to that one RS. good price as well.

Think the fact it has been on sale for a year and not sold proves your point is spot on - Nobody bought it previously for the same reason. But now it has developed its worth the money.

Same as investing in penny shares I guess.... £100 each in 20 penny shares, 19 will go bust, but one might just find 3 billion barrels of oil!

Nice retirement pressie mate, bet you were gutted when you had to tell them you lost them..... I wouldn't have told them though.

I lost one of my best Fancy Goldfish in a fish house fire, it had won trophies all over the place. I was only a teenager, was so gutted I didn't want to get rid of it so kept it in the freezer. Then my Mum threw it out. Quite funny in hindsight lol.

That Sanke looks a big old beast in the pic.

Is it a Doitsu Sanke, not 100% sure from the small pic?

I'm not a big lover of Sankes, prefer Showas but don't know why. I have a nice Doitsu Sanke but it seems to be fully grown at approx. 55cm.
