That was the choice of the other half! I do like the chagoi as well though lovely friendly fish, she already comes up to say hello and takes food from my hand if she's close and in the upper layers. Beni sits deeper although its hardly surprising considering the time of year and the sun doesn't get high enough to hit the water anywhere either as I found out today

So after spending the morning lifting some newly laid tiles (whole other story ) I finished by 3 and thought I deserved a trip to koi logic to get some sinking food and a net and left with a 24cm Goshiki with lipstick on and a 20cm Gin Aka Matsuba (I think)

Yes I think Goshiki are my favourite variety for exactly that, I love how the colour looks like someone has got some thick red paint and coloured patches in on the fish, and how the silver/black undertones in the scales make it look almost 3D on the fish if that make sense! The next planned addition is a Asagi I would imagine in spring but who knows what will take my eye in the mean time!

Collecting another addition next Saturday which I just won on eBay for a grand total of £14. Its only 14cm but I really wanted a ki utsuri and he/she looks like theres some potential there and sumi to come through. I will be swinging by koi logic on the way to collect a net and possibly get another addition if I see something I like, it is my birthday at the end of the month after all so would be rude not to!Ki utsuri.jpg

Lovely fish, I am after a Hi utsuri too at some point. I got lucky with the auction really as I saw it about 20 minutes before then in the last 10 seconds I bid £10 (was at £7) and was outbid then with 2 seconds left I managed to bid £14 and the notification saying sorry you missed out came up on my phone then I refreshed it to find I had won it at £14! A couple of weeks back I saw 2 Ki utsuris about the same size, may have been 12cm actually and they went for about £50 each!

kuchi beni is the lipstick markings, looks like a nice fish mate, im thinking its going to be very dark when its older. did they have any silver extendable net poles in there? Just looked on the website and it looks like they only do a blue one which is odd considering they stock norfine stuff

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
