    Covers off Today

Not exactly the best weather for it...
at least the sun came out today! (forgot what it looked like)

had to do some work on the pond so let the fish see the sunlight for a bit, they seems to enjoyed it too!

    pic and a video.

    Thanks lads,

    i understand heating isn't cheap...
that's one reason i'm only using a 1kw heater, even if it's on non stop the bill won't be astronomical.
ask me again after the final cost comes in spring next year.
i'd still like some heat going in but might be at a lot lower temperature...

looks a bit different out there today at -2C!
i made some frames to support the polycarbonate yesterday and added a 100cm x 50cm trap door to make feeding easier.

Same here in hull Dave -2c none heated.
    Pond still at 9.5c temperature.
So over the moon with that. As my top pond is still. Running into lower pond
( experimenting). I want to trial it. To see if I have to shut it down. And switch to in pond feed. Line. Covers look good mate

your doing amazingly well to hold +9.5C at those temps
did you insulate your pond when you built it?

the covers will do... they don't look great, but they're keeping the heat in.
it took longer packing the frames underneath with bubble wrap to fit the undulations of the rocks that it did making them!
and i'm not cutting them to size, as i'm making the pond bigger and deeper and would have to buy them again next year...

No nothing insulated Dave. Juse a thermal
Cover on the top. I agree up to now it's doing well. Here is all I have on the pond.
Covers and open top pond. If it drops to say 7c. I will shut top pond down and switch to in pond line. And see if it alters. Like I say experimenting.
