Hi Wain,
I can recommend New Forest koi and Cuttlebrook, wouldn't recommend the one in York cant remember their name but wasnt impressed with their fry.
Your best to get 6 week old as easier to keep and usually from May time onwards, dont get too many to start with.John

Spoke to stuffy when I wanted to do it he said get over 6 weeks old as feeding the younger ones is a complete mare. I know my knowledge isnt good enough for that stuff yet culling, deforms, hand picking the cream of them. Love watching it tho so Wain lots of photos and updates

Depends how small they are.
Mine were 4 weeks old when I collected and went straight onto powdered food (Queni Koi stage 2 I think).
For the first 2 weeks, and possibly 4 weeks if slow growing it is good to feed them live brine shrimp / artemia, and for that you need to set up a hatching factory which is a pain in the arse.
So I would agree with AJ and Stuffy, but still worth a punt down to 4 weeks old if they are big enough.

Got a three foot aquarium in the garage to use initially so be OK for light, heat, filter etc up to decent size to fend for themselves outside
then looking at a small pond/pool either inside garage (less natural light) or outside (open to elements) . . . but got a couple of months to go "firm" on which way to go
Fingerlings look good value but growth / colour already known
looking at 9 week fry so more jeopardy in what outcome will be , ,want to see the development at close quarter . . nice mutts will do not looking for "show fish"

Tonight I was asked if I was interested in buying some koi and was sent various photos and videos of koi for sale.
Unbelievably, amongst them were 3 of the fry from this thread that have somehow found themselves in stock at a freelance koi dealer!
How mad is that!
They were £70 - £80 each as well lol.
