I had colour coded head lamp washers on my Astra GTE 16 V and knocked one off. I bought a new one which was grey so looked like it had been primered so obviously didn't match the other one but that soon got sorted when I knocked them both off a little while later and then had a matching pair of grey ones fitted. I never bothered repainting them as I quite liked the grey ones

Just remember to clean the vehicle first or you'll get a lumpy finish with all the bird shit and dead flies under there

I have black painted wheels and just not sure what to use. I don’t want to buy an expensive wheel cleaner just because. Is dawn soap safe? What about hand washing the car? What’s the safest?

I've just recently came across and didn't even know it was a thing to be honest. Detailing is like a valet but believe it or not, in more detail, tar removal, paint protection etc etc. Add you can imagine this takes alot longer than a quick soaping at your local hand wash, which comes at a price. People are paying it though, does anyone have any experience of this? I imagine it would be more the prestige makes of car that the owners are willing to pay for the service. Sounds like a good little number, but sure what to do through the winter though??

It can be hard work and lots of hours.

I guess it depends on what level of the market you want to enter.

Service/maintenance washes are probably where the money is, but to get that business you probably have to get the car in such a condition where maintenance washes are enough to maintain it.

Generally takes me 2 days to do a reasonably thorough clean with minor paint correction.

Full paint correction and full detailing to the best of my ability takes about a week.

A maintenance wash without doing interior takes me about 50 minutes including getting everything I need ready and putting everything away after, but it would kill me to do that 7 or 8 times a day!

I used to spend hours cleaning my car when it was new,
a quick wash 2-3 times a week with a full detail wash once a week.
snow foam, 2 bucket wash, decontamination, fallout remover, wheel removal and clean.
followed by a top up of the water repellant coating over the nano ceramic coating.
the nano ceramic coating would take me a full week to do 3 stage machine polish then IPA wipe down and coating under a waterproof gazebo.
don't have the time these day though

Will show off my efforts now.

This one now 20 years old and still looking fresh:

My newest addition to the family after its first deep clean, coming up for 5 years old (see the wet patch by the front wheel - cracked radiator which I didn't discover until the next journey!):
