thats the same with most nowadays...
only time i ever got a 'fix' was when i had 2 punctures and only 1 spare...

RAC will deal, when i phoned up to cancel after they quoted £160,
i told them i was going with Start Rescue.
they gave me, 15 months cover for 12 months/personal cover in any car/roadside assist/breakdown/recovery/homestart for £60...

One of our guys called the RAC, they told him it would be a three hour wait, the wife broke down on the drive two weeks before Christmas, you’re at home, four hours it took them.

It's always frustrating when we feel like we're not getting the service we expect or deserve, especially when it comes to something as important as our vehicles. If you feel like your experiences with RAC have been consistently negative, it might be worth considering switching to a different provider or seeking out a second opinion before committing to any repairs. It's important to have trust and confidence in the professionals handling our car maintenance and repairs, and if that trust has been compromised it's better to address the issue sooner rather than later.

Most breakdown companies won't touch my cars as they are too old. Yet my car insurance policies generally have £25 breakdown as an option, sometimes free breakdown. That would likely be the cheapest way to obtain annual cover.

When I don't have Breakdown cover with the insurance I just keep a few phone numbers in my phone for local recovery firms. I've never had to call one out in a roadside emergency but have used them a few times to move project cars around, usually between £60 and £75 depending on distance, which works out a lot cheaper than paying every year for breakdown cover in the long run.

If doing a lot of long distance driving then paying for an annual cover is good piece of mind. As for which ones are good or bad I guess it just depends on where you break down and how much availability they have in that area.

Went for a job with the AA once, only job I ever went for and failed to get. They said I was "too polite" and that you can't act this way around angry customers who've been waiting 2 hours for you to arrive, you need to have the assertiveness to put them in their place to shut them up so you can get on with the job! Lol, that was a long time ago mind.
