Had been wondering when you'd chip in What to do at BMW while waiting 6 and a half hours for an oil change!

Will make an exception for yours.

    i'd had fords for about 20 odd years escort's, sierra's, mondeo's,
but bought my first 3 series 10 years ago when they were cheaper new than a mondeo
my current one i went petrol and auto and wouldn't go back...

that said, i'm thinking of ditching everything bar a cheap run around car next year.
reckon covid will be here for years to come...

I have a car that only needs servicing every 20k miles and the warranty doesn’t depend on it being serviced. It doesn’t use any petrol or diesel either

Youre not doing your bit for global warming then . Global warming equals warmer koi ponds......All cars should be German, simples, unfortunately only Mercedes dealers are actually any good and that's because they charge ridiculous prices on their servicing BMW are truly horrendous.

I think the solar plant on my house probably balances out the uncovered heated koi pond in my garden, sort of

Got to say must be down to individual dealers,I've only had one bmw,an e46 m3,about 10 years ago now and have to say I got outstanding service at the time from a bmw dealer in Cheshire after it was found the rear boot floor was cracking which was a common fault on these, they never tried to wriggle out of it and carried out the repair under warranty, standing the full cost of the repair which iirc was around 7k! The car at that point was around 6 years old and had 70k miles so not new but they honoured it

The body warranty on these was 12 years so when I took mine in for a new boot floor at 10 years and 6 Months old they rejected it saying it was not part of the body warranty but a goodwill agreement.

I then got my magnifying glass out and identified every piece of corrosion throughout the car - around number plate lights, door hinges, door shuts, inner front wheel arches and bottom of wing mirrors, and put in a claim.

First of all they rejected half of it saying car had been re-painted in the past, I argued that and eventually they agreed to do all except for the wing mirrors as these are aluminium "accessories" and don't fall within the anti-corrosion warranty.

So after 6 Months of twoing and frowing I ended up getting half of my 11 year old car completely re-painted and they did an excellent job of it too.

As for the boot floor, the crack hasn't extended from its original 1mm size so its a job for the future and you can now buy plating kits to repair it.

Yep,I’m sure they mentioned at the time it was covered under a goodwill type agreement rather than a warranty, iirc it was aslong as it was under 100k miles and had been well serviced within the dealer network with the running in service completed on time they would honour it,I really think this is down to individual dealers-a local bmw dealer claimed to know nothing about it whereas I was recommended the guys at bluebell wilmslow who had done a few and were happy to take the work on,luckily they were actually the supplying dealer when the car was new so it worked out well.As you say the visible part of the crack is something and nothing,I had mine diagnosed by Matt at Mprove, the crack wasn’t significant to look at but once everything removed it was more substantial, they actually said at bmw that mine was one of the worst ones they’d seen
