Bored yesterday
Attachment 31278Attachment 31279
Thinking yesterday what I could use for some small plants round the pond, asked the mrs and she came up with the idea of some old guttering.
Thinks i have some in the garage and came up with this, basically two guttering back to back and self tapped together you could use square straight on the deck.
Didn't have end caps so used the lid off an old Aquasourse container cut in two,bit of paint and job done.
Drilled a couple of holes in the bottom for drainage.
Cost ? nothing.

Nice one John.
I have some lengths of guttering with stop ends on exactly like what you've made.... just sitting on the floor behind the shed!
How are you going to install them? Float them on water or attach to pond edges etc?
Also another thing I've seen people do is use polystyrene for marginals. Since doing kitchen I kept any polystyrene that looks like it could be used to float marginals in the water, but not actually used it yet.
And finally I also bought some creeping Jenny to go round the wildlife pond to hide the liner. Only planted it yesterday, along with summer snowflake and marsh marigolds. Got 2 of each off eBay for around £25 delivered, but delivery took 2 weeks! Surprisingly they were all healthy and alive.
Would like to see some pictures when you're done planting and positioning, then I shall copy you with my ready made guttering complete with end caps

I just put them back to back so it sits on the pond coping stones, will sit on any flat surface so easy to make.
I would have sent you some Jenny in the post, just break a piece off and stick it in the soil, they like a lot of water though, and lovely yellow buttercup flowers in the summer.John
