The forum has a functionality that automatically creates tags from the title (or text) when you create a new thread. Why this function adds every single word as a tag without filtering out stop words and such, I have no idea. And why it adds more than the limit I can't say either. It's broken and many forums have this issue.

The usage of tags is to categorise threads based on their topic in an alternative way to using sub-forums. You can then search for a tag, say 'B-carb', and find all threads from all areas of the forum (or specific areas) that have that tag. Much like how hashtags function in social media.

Just a little incite to the problem not a fix, sorry

It shouldn't happen, but try starting a thread with just a title and a one word comment, then once it has added it you can go back and edit it, it could also be your browser I suppose

When you start a new thread using a PC, you are given the option to edit your "Tags" at the bottom of the screen, beneath Post Icons (see attached screen shot below). If you go to submit your post and you get the "too many tags" error message, just scroll down to that option and delete out all the tags that have been automatically added by the system, and type in the ones you want it to use, keeping it at 5 or less. Roy is right - the system shouldn't be doing this, but it's glitchy in quite a few ways - I'm still getting the hang of it myself!

    Hope that helps, Wendy
