    2025 Cost/Kg survey

So it's 2025, it's time to buy some non-winter food and so it's time to look at current costs and compile a cost per kg.

    Food cost per Kg 5Kg £/Kg 10Kg £/Kg 15Kg £/Kg 25Kg
    Aquasource - Colour Boost 9 (90)
    Aquasource - Growth 7.5 (75)
    Aquasource - Balance 9 (90)
    Aller Aqua Primo 1.70 (42.50)
    Medikoi - Probiotic Growth 14.6 (73) 13.5 (135)
    Medikoi - Health 12 (60) 10.5 (105)
    Medikoi - Stable Colour 12 (60) 10.6 (105)
    Hakari - Gold 14 (70) 10.9 (109) -
    Hakari - Staple 10 (50) 7.5 (75) -
    Hakari - Growth - - -
    Saki-Hikari - Colour 23.6 (118) 16.3 (245)
    Saki-Hikari - Balance 18.9 (94.5) 11.3 (170)
    Saki-Hikari - Growth 23.6 (118) 20.6 (206) 12.93 (194)

I've deliberately avoided the 3Kg and 2Kg because they're horrifically priced.
    Note:
    * I've also avoided JPD due to the impact on the water.
    * Medikoi does use non-marine proteins from previous investigations.

There's definitely a £3-10 increase in some of the foods this year since Aug last year.

    EDIT:
    * updated with S-H 15Kg prices sans retailer points.
    * I've nuked the 2Kg column in favour of adding 25Kg column for the Aller Primo.

Ordered Hakari Gold 10Kg, seems it did a decent job last year.

I may have to put the net up though, last year we had 7 magpies that gorged themselves. By the end of season looked chunky and very colourful plumage.

They've woken up and are searching/demanding food actively now.

your saki figures look a little high mate, where is that from?

prices on saki have gone up in the last couple of years, but not massively.
    coastal koi prices...
    https://coastal-koi.com/product-cate...ders/koi-food/

15kg of balance is £169.95 free delivery and £8.45 worth of voucher points effectively making it £161.50 £10.76/kg
    15kg growth £193.95 free delivery and £9.65 in point so £184.30 £12.28/kg
    15kg colour £245.95 free delivery and £12.25 in point so £233.70 £15.58/kg

but i usually wait until the national show as there are usually some good prices on food with a bit of haggling

That was from Cotswold - mainly because they had included VAT vs some of the online non UK companies that popped up.

Will update that's obviously not including any retailer points system.

    primo-float-plus

I'll add that to the list as it seems to be fish based rather than non-marine.

Someone asked that previously - specifically if it was another Coppens rebrand:
    after countless hours researching....
my attitude to koi food is unless they say what factory actually makes the pellets... it's made by coppens.
the only possible reason for all the secrecy and not saying where the pellets are actually made, is to fool people into buying a product thats made by coppens....
Others indicated it left an oil slick and also the fish weren't too taken by it.

I have had 2 or 3 Takazumi varieties and my Koi loved it, no problems, no oily film, water discolouration or excess waste. The Easy sinking and Yugen were well liked and the High growth good for tosai.

No reson to think it's made by Coppens, https://takazumi.nl/about-us/?lang=en
