    How much food?

I have just bought Jebao Automotive Feeder. I have 10 fish in a 8500L pond with an Oase proficlear compact EGC drum the fish are approximately12 long and 2 years Old. I have never used a auto feeder it feeds up to 6 feeds. How much food should I set to drop and how may feeds per day, Lastly what is the max food I should give them a day

    Thanks

    Hi Jazz,

I was literally going to ask the same question.

I've just swapped food from Medikoi Health to Coppens OSW, and the fish are going crazy for it. Lately they haven't seemed all that bothered about the Medikoi, with the same dozen fish or so feeding, but they have all been constantly eating what looks like the blanket weed on the pond walls, which makes me think they are still hungry.

As I said they are going crazy (all the fish) for the OSW, but are still eating the blanket weed.

I've been feeding 10kg a month through an auto feeder that feeds from 6am to 11pm in regular intervals.

How do I know how much to feed, is there some sort of rule, or just the "what they will eat in 5mins" suggestion?

Sorry to highjack your thread Jazz, but I think we are both asking the same question.

Fish, around 20, most 16", a few small 6 to 8" and a few at 24" and two really big ones(they never swim passed the window where I've got the measure, so no idea how big, but much bigger than 24"). Water temp 24'c, pond 38k litres.

It all depends on your fish really, along with temp and water quality. Start by measuring out a small amount and seeing if they clear it in a few mins. If it's not cleared and some is left floating then reduce the amount. Once you find a good amount then try to get that correct amount to drop from the feeder.

Once you are sure the filters can cope then up the amount of feeds per day over a period of time.

how much are you feeding now? I'd start with that amount and then slowly increase - keep a regular check on water parameters.
