fish jump window again
Had a fish leap the window again today....seriously thinking of a mod to window by adding a 4" BOARD COVERED IN BUTYL and attach flush to glass before tiling window area.
pond perms fine no sign of flashing or anything else happening.
I know MARK has had fish leap window last year....think it was twice anyway my fish are only small ..largest being 14" and not prepared to lose fish in this manner not for the sake of a clear veiw of surface.
HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS HAPPEN WITH INFINITY WINDOWS

Koi aren't that bright.
They don't know what glass is.
It may be that they think there's more water beyond the glass."The information's out there,
You only have to let it in." (Jesse Stone)

Hi DHR
Guess your correct..they see the sides as black edges....so not seeing darkness they presume theres more water beyond, plus sunlight would also give them a false baring simular to above.
Think i`ll still go with some kind of black bar accross....hopefully give me the edge on escapees..he he

I have the same type of window that your talking about, no upper horizontal frame, and have never had any sort of problem at all. In fact my koi appear to enjoy it. I,m not sure what their looking at, but i know i can see them. Sounds like a problem elsewhere to me. Good luck.

I've had infinity windows fitted since 2006 and have never had a jumper, what sort of water level are you running, mine's 4" below the top edge of the window.

Terry, as per our conversation last night I have built my pond to allow a 6" drop on the water level below the level of the window. I would hate to lose any Koi because of this, and I haven't spent a fortune on Koi like some people have on here.
Am I right in saying that your window also sits slightly higher than your block work Ian? I seem to remember your polycarbonate having a notch out for the glass to pass through, whilst it is in situ on the wall.

Ah 1" is like stepping over a small childs toy for koi.
Don't get me wrong if they really wanted out I'm sure they could clear 5-6" with ease, but they may think twice about it.
