These turned up this morning 57 x 2ins fry late last years spawning a good mix.
Was a bit dubious about them but they are lovely little koi.

I'd love to do this every year, but find it so difficult to move them on once they've grown.
Find it hard to part with fish knowing you are likely sending them to their deaths whether it be to new unfiltered pond owners who'll overfeed & poison / get bored or to suspect characters who want some cheap live bait.

Location could be a factor, but I've had quality koi for sale for months before they've sold in the past, even in the £40 - £60 range.
My 45cm Ochiba ended up in a 500 litre pond no more than a foot deep. I was gutted when I found out. The buyer had said they have a big pond and I accepted that at face value. They had 15 or more Koi in there as well. Only found out when they sent me a photo a short while after as they were having problems after adding another Koi and I had said welcome to contact me any time if you ever have issues. There was no way they were going to start scraping and scoping koi, it was completely alien to them when I explained what to do, then never heard from them again.Last edited by RS2OOO; Yesterday at 03:32 PM.
