It was a cracking weekend and yesterday here too which makes a change, the weather for today is forecast at 26c so maybe the ASHP will actually turn off for a while

Which is currently sat at 23.6c

Is the water temperature so high in this season?
If it is, then it is possible to fatten them with aggressive feeding like we do!

We hope that everyone in the UK will practice intensive seasonal feeding for a period of time to strengthen KOI's stamina and boost their immune system, making them more resistant to disease and flukes.

Good afternoon all. Building a pond. Think it's about 7250 litres. Bought a 2nd hand Hailea T18000 pump a few years ago, knowing I was going to be pond building. I have a Kockney Koi 5000 litre filter which I've just put the pump in. Yes, you've guessed it, it's pulling water out quicker than it's going back in. I would like to keep the pump though. The output from the pump is going into a 10000 litre pressure filter, out of there to a blade waterfall. Can I reduce the pressure on the pump or is it easier to reduce the output flow by restricting the size of the hose to the pressure filter?

I've just taken the cowl off from the pump intake. I can see a tube which is externally threaded. Looks like 40mm inside diameter, 46mm external which is the threaded part. Can I buy something to screw on to this to restrict the flow?

Albeit this is a 'Daily Pond Temperature thread...

Could you add a ball valve to reduce the flow, of split the pipe run and run some of the water back into the filter ??

Well summer in the north west is on the wane, some nice days but some much cooler nights also, pond currently at 17.5c, air temp went down to 8c last night but thankfully forecast is to stay in double figures for the rest of the week.

Never sorted any pond covers out either this year .... so I have now covered half the pond with my old polytunnel to try and keep some of the cooler breezes at bay. Hopefully it will help a little at least and when the sun comes out may even help gain a little back.

I have an indoor / outdoor thermometer unit, the type with a remote sensor which you place outside, https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07JMDVP...mcd_asin_0_img

Works well enough and seeing as I get up about 5 times a night I've got in the habit of checking the outdoor temp throughout the night. It has a max / min function also so you can just pull the battery and reset it daily if you want to know what the temp gets down to and are lucky enough to be able to sleep through the night lol.

Well it’s been all over the place (weather) very Hot, windy, light drizzle, cold, one heavy downpour about fifteen minutes?
So my garden still needs rain.

Outside in the open @ 11:24 this morning, it’s 21.1°c & 68% Rh, in the shade it’s 18.5° c. In the Polytunnel it’s been over 30°+ some days, currently , it’s 28.4° c closed up! The pond has wavered between high 19°s to 22° the last few weeks? Currently it’s @ 20.0° c, so the cold night are starting to pull the temp, down, so I will start to cut back on the food, from five feeds, slowly down to two feeds about mid Oct, depends on Temps! Also starting to give more multi season, heading towards wheat germ, slowly cutting out “growth, high protein”, by mid to the end Oct?
All Koi are fine & have been (fingers crossed) free from “problems” throughout the year.

    Stay Lucky guys

Poly covers on at night, off first thing in the morning.
    Holding at 24C for now,
Electro heater mainly on at night, but sometimes not at all weather dependant.

Daytime temps looking to drop later this week in the forecast.
But i'm holding 24C until October especially as the pond is lit until 9pm at night now.

It's a nice sunny day here, a couple of roses are still flowering along with a few other plants in the garden but also leaves are now falling & things are feeling more autumnal, air temperatures got down to 7.6c last night, pond is down a little at 18.5c.

Mines at 19.8C today. I’m considering putting. The 35mm polycarbonate sheeting back on in a week or so - just going through some old posts and noticed I only took them off mid June so that’s basically 3.5 months with the covers off. That’s just rubbish!!!
